Kettlebells

Just bought a 40 lb kettlebell to add to my super minimal home gym that consists of a pullup bar and some gymnastics rings. Never used one before. Any simple and quick workout suggestions with this thing? Thanks

If you can ignore his annoying voice and thoughts about life, check out his core exercises https://www.instagram.com/seouldinero/

Also if you have an email you can DM me, I have a PDF that my buddy paid for and shared with me.

Pavel Tsatsouline is a good place to start though

When covid mania hit and gyms were shut down I was like 9,000 reps into the 10k kettlebell swing challenge.

Pretty sure people at the gym figured I was autistic, since that was all I did there.

I’ve never forgiven Covid, either.

Flopster,

You can do pretty much anything with a kettlebell. The hardest one will probably be the Turkish get up.

When I first started Kettlebells before the 2010s I started with Pavel Tsatsouline’s RKC method (not sure if he still has the same protocol now) where you would start off with just two basic exercises until you learnt proper form and control and then you added more exercises.

The two exercises were the Turkish get up and the Kettlebell swing.

I started with this book of his…

I’m sure he has likely refined and updated his methods since that book came out and probably someone else can give you a lot more info on that.

That method was a good entry point for me into Kettlebells and I have used them off and on ever since.

Also others may disagree but I avoid the exercise called the snatch. I think it’s not very functional and can be dangerous too.

Forgot to post the link to the DVD and I think someone may have already posted it in the thread but if not see below.

They used to charge ridiculous money for that video back in the day!

There’s a whole lot of great youtube routines.

I started using them off/on last year. They feel amazing for every day functional strength and grappling. I started working muscles I never knew I had with regular free weights.

40lbs seems like a heavy weight to learn on, form is critical. Be careful, and pay attention to form before going balls out with them.

Yeah. I only got them because they were a few bucks cheaper on sale. Will probably be getting a few more lighter ones sooner than later.
