I’m under the impression that he never trained with anyone good or was never part of an elite team, thus, his progress stagnated and he never improved.
I remember constantly seeing footage of Gonzaga training at his academy with guys much smaller than him.
It’s like watching footage of Royce Gracie slow-rolling during the lead-up to the Hughes fight. You just knew he was going to get smashed.
