Probably not.
That might help to keep things more aligned and not put so much pressure on the elbows. Could also be a range of motion thing.
Ditching things that hurt and finding exercises which do not often has been my approach while getting older. An overhead cable one arm extension for example could be a nice alternative here if you are not able to figure this one out.
22 pullups in one set just now. 55 years old. Not sure why I canāt upload video.
Went for a lengthy hike after my last leg day. Got my legs feeling a different kind of sore for an extra day and it was just awesome all the way around. Gonna have to figure out some cardio for when the summer ends that I can do here in my apartment.
Yep and probably wise for any age but def at ours, cant train away pain anymore.
Welcome aboard brotha, thats an outstanding effort at any age. Hope you can figure out the video thing would love to see it. I think you might have to upload to something like youtube but im not sure.
Decreasing your sweet potato intake and eventually exchanging them for rice (white) as your carb source would likely improve the aches you are experiencing. Might even do the trick for your elbow.
Recruiting @brankocikatic into this discussion because he will know where I am going with this and can vouch for my rudimentary knowledge in this area.
Iām not sure where youāre going with this but Iām hoping rectifying my sleep apnea helps a bit with physical recovery too. Can I still eat red potatoes?
Because I love rice. But you better believe Iām gonna be putting a bunch of chicken broth, butter, and salt in that shit. Lol
googles sweet potato and inflammation
Nah ill wait
So anyway did a new lower split today, long story short hurt my hip/back doing fucking shrugs of all things over a month ago so laying off the DLs
Looked like this
Squats worked up to 2 triples for a top set then no back offs cause of the sore/tighness
SLDL for 2 working sets
Pendulum squats for 1 all out top set, only got two plates by 5 cause i was wrecked
Leg curls - one all out top set of 10
Lef extensions - 2 all ouut top sets second set I thought I was going to puke. Fuck those things but for some reason they afrent hurting my knees anymore probs cause im lining the machine up with my knee joint now but IDK
Felt like a really good session
It will take me a bit to type out and explain so might be a little while until I can do this. Real quick though, potatoes overall might not be great to consume regularly. This has to do with a plant defense chemical prevalent in many foods which can accumulate in the body over time and wind up causing all sorts of negative effects.
At least animals have the decency to let you eat them in peace once youve killed them, fucking potatoes have a postmortem vindictive streak sounds like
I prefer rice anyway, a little too much
So thatās not something exclusive tonsweet potatoes then, right? Because most of what I see on google search is praising them. Dammit.
Havent watched, will do a quick review when I get time
Squatted 330 for one without a belt last night after my main workout. Pretty happy with doing this weighing 188 lbs.
Okay, so @FloppyDivac the chemical being alluded to in my other post is called oxalic acid or simply oxalates. Sweet potatoes are quite high in this substance. Referencing Sally K Nortonās book, Toxic Superfoods, 100 gms of cooked sweet potato contains 100 mg of oxalates. The body has the ability to dispose of about 200 mgs of oxalates daily and then the rest winds up accumulating in the body.
Where oxalates could become a problem is if they are ingested at high amounts over an extended period of time. The highest oxalte containing foods include potatoes, yams, carrots, spinach, beets, most nuts, most seeds, black pepper, tumeric, quinoa, raspberries, kiwi, wheat based foods.
Most people are not aware of this substance or do not view it as much of an issue. Oxalates are a key offender of causing kidney stones in people, though can present a bunch of other symptoms. These could include aches and pains, arthritis, eye styes, gout, crusty eyes.
This is just a really basic and jumbled description. Do not want to hijack the thread too much about the topic. Oxaltes have cause me a bunch of problems which took awhile to figure out. Once I did, started to see improvements. Know from your diet posts you like the sweet potato and not sure what other types of food have been a part of your diet. Just a hunch on my end they might be more of a detriment than benefit for you.
Many people who change to a carnivore diet start to experience issue with oxalates. My reason for tagging @brankocikatic in the earlier post is because this happened to his wife when they started carnivore. If memory serves my right she started getting gout. Adding some oxalate containing foods to the diet is the strategy to combat these symptoms, which they did and she experienced relief. Once problems with oxalates start happening it is quite the process addressing them. Am about 15 months in dealing with it myself right now.
Sorry for hijacking the thread a tad here fellas. If this topic interests people would highly recommend searching for Sally K Norton videos on YouTube. She is the expert in this area and the information about it can be fascinating.
Personally I dont think you have at all bud, this is great info.
Im having satay chicken and rice PWO today
No worries. Iām familiar with oxalates. I think this is more of an overuse issue with my right elbow and my shoulders have just taken beatings. My joints and fingers feel like hell today, and thatās probably got more to do with me eating tons of pasta and ice cream yesterday. Hahaha
I did quads the other day then had swat later in the afternoon.s. The first 4 hours was all sprints, carrying gear while running, racing as a team moving stuff. My hamstrings, my hips, my everything was wrecked for a week lol
Trying to get back to alternating legs and upper body every other day but my elbow has been so painful this past week it had me thinking against dips and tricep extensions. Which just leaves me with all my pulls and maybe a couple pushup variations.
Do whatever doesnt cause you pain.
This sounds like a spiritual experience, may have calloused your soul
