McGregor Reveals He is Fighting The HangMan

“The Notorious” dropped some surprising fight news.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) “champ-champ” and part owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) Conor McGregor was in attendance for BKFC on DAZN: Tenaglia vs. Soto, which took place inside Marbella Arena in Marbella, Spain yesterday (Sat., Oct. 12, 2024)

After the promotion’s successful event on its new platform, DAZN, McGregor was asked about his return and gave a surprising name.

“February first, Saudi Arabia,” McGregor told Bloody Elbow. “Dan Hooker.”

Hooker was also in Spain on Sat. as he was cornering mixed martial arts (MMA) journalist Oscar Willis, who scored a knockout win (watch highlights).

“The Hangman” was asked about his next fight before McGregor’s revelation that he’s apparently fighting him.

“I’ve got an opponent early next year that I’m focused on, [McGregor] is just a busy man,” Hooker said. “From coming over here and seeing all the things that he’s got going on, if I had that amount of businesses and that much money, I don’t think you’d catch me anywhere near a cage for the rest of my days.”

McGregor fight news is meaningless nowadays because no one really knows when he is going to return. Also, there is a problem with his date and location because UFC is headed to Australia in Feb. and there is no way the promotion places McGregor on a Saudi Arabia Fight Night.

However, a fight with Hooker would be fun. Sorry, Michael Chandler.

Hooker is coming off a Fight of the Night win over Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 305, while McGregor has not competed since breaking his leg at UFC 257 and you already know about the UFC 303 fiasco from this year, but if not, read about it here.

Is a Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather rematch really in the works? There’s been an uptick of chatter recently regarding the fight, but no clear indication that anyone is close to signing a contract.

What we do have, however, is Conor McGregor’s word that talks are ongoing, to the point where discussions on weight and rounds are being had.

“You know, there is conversations ongoing,” McGregor told Spanish news outlet Marca. “I fought Floyd at 153 pounds, which is a low weight. So he brought me all the way down. It was over 12 rounds. I’d never fought 12 rounds. Now the discussion is: at my weight, higher, heavy weight. 170 pounds. And maybe less rounds. So … I would fancy it.”

Seriously….

I think Conor’s plan is to destroy all the prospects in the division by dangling fights in front of them that he never intends on attending.
