McGregor Wants UFC Return on White House Card

The idea of a UFC fight at The White House could be enough to finally lure Conor McGregor back to competition.

Former two-division UFC titleholder McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) hasn’t fought in a sanctioned bout since he broke his leg in a trilogy-fight loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. He was on the verge of a comeback in June 2024, but withdrew from a scheduled contest against Michael Chandler due to a foot injury.

Although McGregor’s social media presence these days consists of a many fight requests, callouts and hypotheticals, his interest was clearly piqued Friday in the aftermath of U.S. President Donald Trump announcing his intentions to host a UFC event at The White House in July 2026 as part of a celebration to honor the 250th year of America’s existence.

Details about the event are scarce, but McGregor displayed excitement about the possibility of being on the card over social media, even sharing screenshots of a private conversation with UFC CEO Dana White where he seemingly made the pitch to be part of the event (via X):

It remains to be seen if McGregor can position himself for a return in the timeline ahead of the potential event. The longtime UFC star does not have any drug tests submitted in 2025 under the anti-doping program, and must re-enter before being cleared to fight.

Additionally, McGregor has still found himself in legal-related news with the appeal process after earlier this year he was found liable for a 2018 sexual assault of Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel room.

He would need full-time handlers and no yes men for at least a year to even get back to being able to compete at a decent level, in my uneducated opinion.

That alone might be more entertaining to watch than the actual event.

No thanks. Tired of the lies and years of stringing fans and Michael Chandler’s dumbass along.

I know people that talk to him daily hes taking it very seriously.

is drug testing 2-3 times a WEEK yes a week.

he wants it for real. he knows if he does the work its his. they need him or Jon and or both of them to make it really historic.

they want it to be the most watched sports event in history ever.

hes not training and drug testing for no reason. ufc is down he just needs to go rocky 3 with it and get back to being a killer.

I love the clarification: hasn’t fought ‘in a sanctioned bout’. Genius.

nate would be huge problem is he might say something he shouldn’t and in that sense wont play ball with the ufc.

they want magic on the microphone. they want pre fight press events ect. nats dope but he dont play along and would hold the ufc hostage with his behavior.

its all good thats why people love him but he might have pushed it to far to many times for this to work for him.

yall went up and done it
