It was a tough night for Conor McGregor at UFC 329, but he continues to vow and prepare for a 2027 return, with a little motivation from his friends.
Trying to return to the octagon since breaking his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021, McGregor (22-7-0), 38, blew out his knee early in his recent return fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329 in June.
In a recent social media post, McGregor saluted some familiar colleagues and doubled down on his intentions to return to action next year.
Whatās up, folks?ā McGregor added. āThe Macā is back, baby. Surgery was a success and now Iām on the road to recovery. That should tell you all you need to know about my mindset. Straight into surgery, knee repaired, and on the road. Letās go.
āI want to give a shout-out to Dominick Cruz, who returned from multiple ACLs to recapture his bantamweight crown. Georges St-Pierre, multiple ACLs. I donāt know whether he returned after his second ACL, however heās doing backflips and his movement is still stellar. Other notables in other sports, NFL, Tom Bradyās done it. Aaron (Rodgers) done it. These are my motivation here, especially the fighting boys.
āUnstoppable, baby. My mindset is unstoppable, unbreakable.ā
Despite some skepticism from fighters and fans, McGregor seems determined to fulfill his UFC contract and have another rematch with Holloway, who has volunteered for the potential trilogy fight.
Apologies In Advance
Alistair Overeem knows a thing or two about being done (and having the face to prove it).
Thatās probably why the former UFC heavyweight feels confident assessing the failed comeback attempt from Conor McGregor at UFC 329 last month in Las Vegas. āNotoriousā returned from a five-year absence and blew out his knee in just 69 seconds, leading to another lengthy layoff.
āHis body was finished five years ago so his return, to me, was nothing more than a money grab facilitated by the UFC,ā Overeem told Bloody Elbow. āIām not seeing anything for him in fight sport, heās done. I think we have to go one step further and that is that if you are going to fight or be an athlete, you need to have a certain lifestyle. You need to not go out and drink alcohol, you need to be making your rounds and I just donāt see that with him.ā
McGregor, who blamed drugs and alcohol for his bad behavior, is now embracing a religious lifestyle.
Conor with a fully rehabbed leg will have the entire division on notice.
God a GSP vs McLeghurt at a catch weight woulda been something to behold. Conor aināt out athleticising GSP and that coupled with GSPās understanding of range and ability to takedown at will wouldāve been a tremendous asskicking. Worse than what Khabib dished out
Conor should go train in Montreal thereās no cocaine or loose women there.
