MMA History(TM) - Karate Combat - President Awesome $ Issues

Unfortunately Karate Combat has been circling the drain for about a year now

Last night they had an event that may qualify as having have been an all time company worst.

The crew that sets up their ring has not been paid in several shows

At the last event they demanded back pay for what was owed as well as the current event

The promotion agreed to do that… for the following event

The ring crew eagerly agreed and told them, that they would be ready for set up and not to worry.

Well…. They completely no showed while answering the phone as if they were in traffic and not to worry.

At around 8pm they were asking people in the audience to help with the set up

The athletic commission has also had several checks to their employees not clear through the bank.

Robin Black wasnt paid for almost an entire year and was given $10k and told “take it or leave it” - he took it

I might start naming fighters in the coming days that were owed for months prior to getting paid

Brandon Jenkins being one of them

I actually stayed up to watch the event last night.. what a shit show - I saw a lot of rumors flying about people not being paid and seems much of it is true

Karate combat is entertaining enough so I hope it sticks around

Remember when “President Awesome” or whatever he calls himself was publicly going after Chatri last year for literally the same thing?

It’s a shame because they have a great roster and put on good matchups. Everytime I watch there’s multiple shenanigans that happens though which made me stop watching for the most part. I was rooting for them to succeed.

This is going to get buried in that thread and no one is going to see it.

I’ve had positive interactions with President Awesome on social media, but it does appear he is scummy.

Damn, that sucks. I knew it was financial when Bas Rutten wasn’t there, I assume he didn’t even make the trip to the event(not sure where he lives).

I had to pass out as well. Thought I would be able to stay up to finish the event but even in Oregon it was too late. Glad I did, watched replay this morning and it wasn’t worth missing ZZZZZZs.

Thanks for the Post MMA Det

Privately people within the industry woukd refer to it as a “giant coke party fueled by a crypto scam”

I have a very good friend that is a promoter from Minnasota and when we would see lavish wastes of money by KC we would always tell each other… eventually they are going to wish that they didn’t spend the money on that outerspace / alien movie set mock up

Truly a great product, poor leadership

I hate to be “that guy”

Here is the truth as I have experienced it in the fight game

  • when you list the top 5 things of the fight company that you are working for, if the after party or partying with the owner is one of them

You are completely wasting your time if you are looking for serious employment

  • BoDog
  • Karate Combat
  • WFA

to name a few

The people giving directions need to be somewhat sober… IF you are liking for serious long term projects

Granted there are exceptions to the rule

Just my rule of thumb

If you want me to go all in on a project I will expect discipline from those calling the shots

Having Logan Paul’s podcast partner as a commentator was also a complete joke.

The venue and setting were always pretty damn cool though at least. They put on some banger matches. Wish they had someone who wasn’t a complete joke running the promotion.

a bald man says he stinks and i don t like him

My thoughts on KC leadership.
