he UFC announced that a flyweight bout between Brandon Moreno and Asu Almabayev will headline the promotion’s Feb. 28 event at Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
Moreno (23-9-2) is looking for a quick rebound after suffering a second-round TKO to Tatsuro Taira at UFC 323 on Dec. 6. The two-time flyweight champion quickly protested the stoppage that halted his win streak at two fights.
“The Assassin Baby” earned unanimous decision victories over Amir Albazi and also defeated Steve Erceg via decision in the main event on the March 29 card in Mexico City.
Almabayev (23-3) has won 19 of his past 20 fights and is 6-1 in the UFC, with his lone blemish being a loss to Manel Kape on March 1. The 31-year-old will step into the Octagon on a two-fight win streak that includes victories over Jose Ochoa and the submission of former title contender Alex Perez on Nov. 22.
The upcoming UFC Mexico City card on Feb. 28 is starting to fill out with the promotion announcing several new fights for the card with former flyweight champion Brandon Moreno set to headline the fight in a matchup against Asu Almabyev.
The entire event airs on Paramount+ with the main card starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT with the prelims kicking off at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT
In addition to the flyweight main event, ranked women’s bantamweights are set to clash in the co-main event with Macy Chiasson taking on Ailin Perez.
With her back against the wall off two straight losses, Chiasson, currently at No. 11 in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, looks to right the ship when she returns in February while attempting to bounce back after falling to Yana Santos and Ketlen Vieira in her past two appearances in the octagon. Prior to those losses, Chiasson had picked up impressive wins over Mayra Bueno Silva and Pannie Kianzad.
I love Moreno, I hope he has one more title run on him
King Green is getting the ball rolling already in 2026.
The UFC announced Saturday that Green (33-17-1, 1 NC) is set to take on Daniel Zellhuber (15-3) at UFC Mexico on Feb. 28. When Green steps into the octagon, it will be his 29th appearance for the promotion.
Green, 14-12-1 (1 NC) in the UFC, is coming off of a split decision win over the debuting Lance Gibson Jr. That victory snapped a two-fight skid after Green was on the wrong end of the Knockout of the Year against Mauricio Ruffy and a first-round submission at the hands of Paddy Pimblett. His most recent wins include Gibson, Jim Miller, Grant Dawson, and Tony Ferguson.
Mexico’s Zellhuber made his UFC debut in 2022 after being signed off of Dana White’s Contender Series. The 26-year-old lost to Trey Ogden before stringing together consecutive wins over Lando Vannata, Christos Giagos, and Francisco Prado. However, his rise up the ranks has been halted by a two-fight skid.
Loner is +300 this is basically free money he is very talented and Moreno is overrated as hell
Bobby Green is almost +500 against another absolute bum in Zellhuber. Bobby is way past his prime but this is another no-brainer bet
Looks like some good matchups.
I wonder if they will still have these fights in Mexico?
Saturday is my kids baptism and I was going to miss this card but I didn’t realize macy chiasson was fighting .
Moreno is awesome.
