Motown Suffers Brutal Knockdown During Sparring after Flying knee Attempt

Ex-UFC fighter Kevin Lee is shown in a viral clip getting viciously dropped in sparring.

In the video that has circulated around social media, Lee attempts a flying knee on his sparring partner at Kill Cliff FC that came up short. The sparring partner, perhaps instinctively, countered with a brutal overhand right that sends Lee face first to the mat. “The Motown Phenom” is then tended to by former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, telling Lawler, “I’m good” before walking it off.

Check out the video of the knockdown below.
The 32-year-old Lee is attempting to get back to the form that had many in the MMA community believing he could be one of the sport’s biggest stars. After a 19-fight run over two stints in the UFC, Lee is now a member of the Global Fight League roster. Lee was drafted by the New York team and is expected to make his promotional debut soon.

After a 55-second submission loss to Rinat Fakhretdinov at UFC Vegas 76 in July 2023, the UFC elected not to re-sign the one-time interim lightweight title challenger. Following a 14-month layoff, Lee returned to MMA and picked up a first-round submission win over 40-fight veteran Thiago Oliveira at Lights Out Championship 17 in September.

Yeah, that shouldn’t have been posted. Looks like Kevin pulled short on the knee, and the guy just decked him hard.

Kevin wasnt even wearing headgear. Why hit him that hard?
Dbag move for sure. Gotta be careful training with these youngsters. They always feel like they have something to prove.

Lesson learned: it’s a very narrow space between technique sparring and fighting.

It’s just funny though cause it’s Kevin Lee. He’s probably a normal humble guy these days, but he was a pretty cocky dbag back when he was being hyped.

We’ve all known guys that were unbeatable in the dojo only to not be able to put it together when it mattered.

Let’s see who’s the ultimate dojo world champion!

Lee was getting cute and got what he had coming. Bullshit to post the video if the puncher is responsible for that, but I have no issue with him chin checking a guy even attempting a flying knee with no knee pads in sparring.

Spar professionally.

But he didn’t really throw the knee, he half assed threw it to show it. He wasn’t trying to hit the guy with it… Should of kept his hands up no matter what though

You never go 100% with a training partner. The entire gym should be pissed off over this.
