My forgotten stash of boxing pics & other stuff

Oh, yeah. I got to live a good portion of my childhood dreams.
Hell, I’m still living well at 64. I love it.

BTW, who the hell is the guy in the bottom pic? Lol.

I did, but I didn’t recognize him. I think I was paying too much attention to his damn ears. Lol.
But now that I know who it is, I can’t believe I missed it,

@buddie

If you don’t mind me asking mate, how much did you get for sparring? I remember hearing Tyson paying $5000 cash per round.

It all depended on the fighter I was working with & whether I was being paid by the round or by the week. I was usually in camp for the duration, so I got paid weekly. And I made around a grand per week, depending on the status of the fighter.
Then, on other occasions in which they only needed me for a day or two, I’d get paid by the round. For instance, I got paid $100 per round when I filled in for one of Julio Cesar Chavez’s regular sparring partners & walked away with $500 for four rounds. $100 per round plus a bonus.

Is there any way you can elaborate on some of your most famous sparring partners and whet the sessions were like?

Working on something particular?
How much pressure did they put on?
Did you struggle with anything?
How did you professionally make sure they got the most out of the sessions?

Etc…

Chavez is an all-timer, as are others you mentioned.

I’m sure a lot of us would enjoy a little story-time. I know I would.

This is without a doubt the greatest single post ever on this forum.

I’ve always been more amazed by OP still having these decades old pictures than their amazing subjects TBH.

Thanks, man. I appreciate you saying so.
I used to have so much more, but when I moved cross country to Arizona, the movers lost two boxes that contained a bunch more irreplaceable photos, plus video tapes of my fights. They also managed to “lose” my 65” flat screen along the way too. I filed a suit against them & I got some money out of it when they chose to settle out of court, but it was a hollow victory because those boxes they lost were worse so much more than money to me.
