Nerd Alert! Magic the Gathering

This guy had everything he could have wanted but I backed him into a corner and forced him to block my tokens, which is what ultimately killed him (I gained life for each that died, making him lose the rest of his).

This one was long and annoying but ultimately pretty satisfying. He was gaining tons of life every turn, offsetting some of the damage I was doing. In the end though, I had hundreds of unblockable creatures and he didn’t.

Just another one of those where he had a lot of good things going on but it took a turn quickly.

This fucker had a ruthless combo I hadn’t seen before and gave me some form or other of the “game over” emote. He probably threw his mouse when I pulled out the win. I had to cast Ugin twice to make it happen.

I’ve always liked mill decks but based on their lack of versatility, I don’t like to invest too much in the required cards to make them competitive. The new set has some absolute bombs that motivated me to tune one of my mill decks. I milled his whole chubby deck in four or five turns. He maaaad.

This guy, too must have been pissed. He had a really high end deck with like a dozen different win conditions (many of them guaranteed wins). I would have milled him out anyway but I finished him off with his own Ulamog.

Last one for today. This guy had an even better deck than the last one and had his “guaranteed” win condition on the board. He had so many game-breaking cards, it was stupid. I countered five or six of them then milled him out despite his “can’t lose” cards in play. I was playing about ten spells per turn at the end. It went from he’s a little concerned to “holy shit” real quick.

Not arena related, but super stoked to score this over the weekend. Slivers were my introduction to MTG back in 2013. A buddy of mine got absolutely wasted and decided we were going to go to all the local Walmarts at 1am and grab all of their MTG cards and learn to play. I immediately fell in love with Slivers and he Angels, 12 years later, he has a finely tuned Angel deck and I have a finely tuned Sliver deck. Feels good to have this.

I haven’t really gotten into it yet. I played the Midweek Magic last week which was fun, but nothing really grabbed me.

One of the surest ways to get my attention is graveyard interaction… I fucking love graveyard decks!

Awesome finds.I don’t have anything this cool. But I was jacked when my girl bought me an Alpha Mountain, Plains, and Forest for my Naya deck. Tho

OMG, you just reminded me of a match I had a couple of years back… Motherfucker played Ugin 3 turns in a row. I removed Ugin each fucking time, but after the 3rd Ugin, he waited another 2 turns to cast Ugin #4. I conceded at that point. I was fucking salty!

It’s all good, this isn’t supposed to be an “Arena-only” topic, but unfortunately that’s primarily the only way I still get to play. My playgroup meets once every few months… :frowning:

I remember when Slivers first hit the scene in the 90’s. My playgroup never really got into them (thank god!).

I think Sliver Hivelord is the one sliver I despise the most. I will often quit if that hits the board.

Have you looked into tabletop simulator? Kind of a clunky UI, but we run that a lot when we have to skip a couple weeks. It’s not as restrictive as Arena can be with certain cards, game modes not being on it etc.

My Sliver EDH Deck is my “pet deck”. It’s sitting at around $1200. I always cringe when our youngest wants to play it lmao.

There are some good ones. I’ll keep an eye out for you.

Wish I would have taken a screenshot before I wiped the board. It was sexy; I played Ugin, with him thinking he had me after it fizzled. I took out his Magistrate then let Possibility Storm do its thing because I knew I had another Ugin.

I have a SpellTable account.

It’s a pretty damned good platform, but I’ve only had the opportunity to play once. I’m reluctant to join a game blindly, I prefer to play with people I know.

However, with the new Commander/EDH Bracket System, it helps clarify our deck tiers better. Eight of my Commander decks are Tier 3, and one is Tier 2. The old 1-10 rating was so damned subjective…

I’m admittedly disappointed that none of my decks currently rate as Tier 4. I have 3 decks that I thought could argulably be in that category. Oh well…

The tier system definitely needs some work though. Ive got tier 1 decks that run our table and can potentially turn three the table, but since it doesn’t run traditional tutors, it’s exhibition lmao. But I also have tier 3s that sputter and stall the moment someone blinks too hard lmao.

Yeah, I agree, but I think it’s a pretty good starting point. I’m glad they’re considering this “beta-testing”. I kinda feel that Tier 2 should allow for 1 (or even 2) of the supposed “game changers”…

I like what they have also said about “intent”… ok, I’m not entirely sure that’s the term they used, but basically the idea behind your deck. They have more or less acknowledged that this list isn’t “Five Tiers Fit All”…

I have a janky Tier 3 deck that I totally ran the table with. I personally took out all 3 of my opponents. They had almost no answers.

Another salty assed bitch. I play my win-con, asshole stops participating. That’s why I love having the Oko “Salt” emoji… it’s even better than the Mic Drop emoji… LOL!
