I know I’ve ‘lost a step’ since I trained seriously. It’s probably more like nine steps out of ten, though I could never admit it to myself - that’s probably an in-built self-protection thing. There’s no reason to think Nick wouldn’t be equally deluded.
He was great years ago, with superb jiu jitsu and (I think) underrated boxing, and a willingness to go into hardship. Anyone saying he wasn’t is incorrect, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be anything but a shadow of that now.
Chiesa seems like the perfect fight for him. Nick could win that.
I liked Nick back in the day but all the periods of inactivity and drug abuse ruined him. I mean last fight he quit because of a busted nose….I don’t want to see that Nick fight again.
He was a shadow of that like 5 years ago when he last attempted a comeback and that ended with him giving up in the octagon. It’s hard to imagine he’s going to come back stronger especially with all the other stuff that’s happened since then.
That said, he was a high level fighter at one point and time. He was always his own worst enemy though.
Chiesas going to style on him? I imagine an ugly way between the two.
Can’t Nick make money without fighting? Enforcing shit, partnering with a school, private lessons, appearances? Seems like he could make more money without more brain damage
