Genetics in dogs, just like humans and every other species, gives them a spectrum of behavior. Their environment dictates where they land on that curve.
I love pitbulls (and most all dogs), but absolutely they were bred to deliver and absorb damage.
I have a tiny pit mix at home, and according to the DNA test he’s 65% pitbull and 25% chihuahua. He looks exactly like a blue pit, just shrunk down to 23 pounds. Think of a ripped, athletic frenchie. He has such a blocky head and lumberjack neck that his collar will fit around his waist.
He’s kissy and hilarious and loving and weird, but he’s an untrainable little bastard with violent tendencies. He knows 2 words, “cheese” and “kill.” The kill command he learned as a joke by accident, but this fucker refuses to sit and hardly knows his own name. He’ll come running for cheese tax and that’s it.
No concerns with my immediate family altho he does terrorize my old dog sometimes, and hasn’t bitten but is dicey with strangers.
LOL, I have a good idea what the owner looked like.
Stopping the dogs from fighting was apparently too much for the pit bull’s owner.
“In the excitement of the event he ended up suffering a medical emergency,” said Simi Valley PD Senior Officer Casey Nicholson.
The pit bull’s owner died at the scene. McCarthy described the man’s final moments just before first responders arrived.

Retrievers naturally go after birds and swim bc it is bred into them
Shepherd dogs were bred to herd lovestock and many nip heels of people like they do sheep
Rat terriers naturally want to hunt and kill rats and small mammals bc they wete bred to
American pitbull terrier, the worlds premier fighting dog, with “dogmen”, apparently were NOt bred to fight to the death without concern for its own well being…it is all due to “bad owners”

As much as the blame is on teh pitbull owner for having an off leash dog out of control in a public place, I often despise the other parties dog’s owners!
I have witnessed someones dog being mauled badly while the owner is just stood there like a total idiot becoming hysterical whilst doing absolutely nothing to save their pet!
If that happened to my dog I’d be hands on immediatly putting boot in!

Honestly, I have seen a dog be killed before while teh owner just stood there crying whilst they had all the time to actually do something!

Happens all the time in Hawaii
Like I said earlier my wife had to run away from a charging Pitbull at the beach. They were after our golden retrievers most likely. I wasn’t there unfortunately

Animal Control picked up the dog but it’s unclear how it died.
It’s unclear what happened after that, but the pit bull died. The SVPD said the dog may have been restrained too roughly as the owners were trying to separate the dogs.
