100%, not disputing that. He turtled and rightfully lost.
He could have done more to get up but in his defense heâs probably waiting for Terrence to gas. Which he has a history of doing. I guarantee 5-10 more blocked punches Terrence stops, Nelson gets up, and McKinney is completely toast.
I think Herb did what he had to. That was on Nelson. He just laid there, didnât try to grab, didnât try to break posture or roll, just laid there covering up.
Also he was taking less damage where he was then if he tried to stand while McKinney was pounding. He could have really gotten knocked out opening his head up like that. The fight was stopped because of what could have happened, not because of what happened. Not a definitive ending at all.
Every single fighter knows, it doesnât matter if your hurt, if you just lay there shelled up in the fetal position, theyâre gonna stop the fight. Chase Hooper was actually still fighting, looking to sweep with an armdrag, moving. Nelson was doing the exact opposite. That was essentially a submission win.
Yeah thatâs the one thing he did wrong but again, it LOOKED bad, but wasnât bad. Even live I could tell the shots werenât landing.
And thatâs when stoppages started sucking.
Sometimes being in the fetal or turtle position makes sense. In that situation, it did.
Youâre right, nothing was landing, thatâs what makes it so bizzare that Nelson would just lay there knowing the stoppage was coming.
This is one of the best fights on the card right here imo
Abdul-Malik went to a draw with Cody BrundageâŚ
I gotta think Gloverâs guy wins.
He shouldnât have laid there (because of âopticsâ, but strategically was fine) but Iâm saying stopping fights on the basis of somebody being in that position alone, is a recipe for early stoppages, which is what weâve been getting for several years now. Itâs why every card has people complaining about stoppages.
Bulgaroui was world champ in Glory and has a W over Poatan
I have money on Malik so really pulling for him. I was most torn on who to pick in this fight because itâs pretty much a toss up.
Sure, I kind of agree. At the same time, I think Nelson wanted the fight stopped. I donât think he wanted to fight anymore
In some cases I agree that a guy turtles or goes into fetal to find a way out of the fight. In this case I donât think thatâs what happened. He had taken very little damage up to that point and knew the head kick didnât even land flush. McKinney historically fades after the first couple of minutes and has been at the mercy of his opponents multiple times because of it. I hate modern stoppages and this fight was a perfect example of why they destroy good fights.
Oi has anyone check out the multiple view, itâs pretty cool, screen split in two with the team underneath
Dude can kick from across the Cage
These fans arenât âbloodthirstyâ theyâre cum thirsty
Malik didnât like that low kick
