To be fair, he knows he’s not a contender anymore. He’s basically going out and putting the new guys over. Same as Izzy at 185.
Those dudes would have all gotten absolutely beaten to death during the GSP days. Thiago Alves would have kicked their heads into the cheap seats, the Lawler, Rory and Hendricks days would have given them real time CTE.
All 3 of those guys could have gotten cut and went to Bellator and not even won a belt there.
The UFC hype machine has everybody thinking everybody is A++++ level if they win a belt, but there have always been these weird moments in time where a lesser fight manages to win one here and there, we just got unlucky that the division has fallen apart like 205.
