Someone might be getting fired.
On Saturday, UFC Brazil’s X account sent out a message to announce a lightweight matchup between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira for the “BMF” title at UFC 324 on Jan. 24 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The post was quickly deleted, but it was up long enough for the MMA community to take notice and start sharing.
As you may have heard, UFC 324 will serve as the first major event of 2026 and the jumpstart to UFC’s broadcast partnership with Paramount+. An interim lightweight title fight between streaking English star Paddy Pimblett and veteran fan favorite Justin Gaethje is expected to headline. The matchup has caught some backlash, but the promotion has bolstered UFC 324’s main card with a co-main event between current women’s bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison and all-time great Amanda Nunes.
Of course, there’s always room for more if UFC wants to add a “BMF” title fight to help start the Paramount+ era off with a bang.
Holloway, who is no longer looking to compete at 145 pounds, is coming off a trilogy fight win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 318 this past July (highlights HERE). The former UFC featherweight champion looked better than ever in that fight and a big reason why is that he’s finally digging his heels in at 155 pounds and reshaping his body for the division. It will be interesting to see what Holloway can do as he starts meeting some of the best lightweights in the world (don’t forget he beat Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 as well).
As for Oliveira, he’s coming off a masterful submission win over lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Rio this past October (watch HERE). The aura seems to be back for “do Bronx” after going just 2-3 in his previous five Octagon appearances, but he’ll have to prove himself again in 2026. If that comes against Holloway then Oliveira will also have the opportunity to avenge a TKO loss to “Blessed” from all the way back in 2015.
We’ll have to wait and see if Saturday’s social media snafu was just a stupid mistake or if Holloway vs. Oliveira 2 is actually going down at UFC 324.

BMF should be an open weight title tournament. Like Pride used to do. They need to do something different, and you can’t be holding the BMF belt if you weight a buck fifty.
It’s already a joke belt so why not give us an open weight tourney you fucks. Make the belt actually mean something.
I’m guessing there are regulations against that in the US. But they could probably do that in the Middle East.
But then it’s up to the fighters to decide if they want to participate.
I wouldn’t mind if by “open-weight”, you mean that fighters don’t have to make weight, like say Max and Charles just show up at whatever weight they want to show up at and not worry about making 155.
Nah I definitely mean seeing Holloway fight someone like Derrick Lewis haha.
I know there’s rules and regulations but I’d just ask the commission to be cool, don’t be square. That should do it.
You’d have to get Holloway to want to do it first!
This fight makes sense and I honestly would love to see Max flatten Charles.
Well if Holloway doesn’t want to do it……he’s not a BMF then is he ![]()
Wait jan 24th??
I have a feeling now that we are working under WWE…
I think rule changes are coming to make the sport more exciting and full on grounded knees will be rocking by the end of next year…then do the pride tournament
I welcome our new WWE overlords
BMF should happen 1 time a year (New Years Eve preferably)
“BMF” title for every weight class (that deserves it). 8 men’s weight classes, 3 women’s weight classes. 11 fights total at most.
It should be held under PRIDE rules, 10 minute first round and all the rules (plus elbows).
THIS would be a reason for a Pay Per View
