IMO, the evolution of MMA used to be one of the coolest things to happen in modern history.

Jones was dealing with the exact same shit from the same rabid fans before the Cyril Gane fight. Then he smoked him, and all the haters just shifted to Aspinall while shitting on Gane. It’s a cycle at this point because everyone wants to see Jon lose. Aspinall isn’t that guy. And if Jon did stay and smoke Aspinall, he’ll be a coward for retiring before fighting the next guy. That’s the MMA fan mentality.
Jones will always be a coward for avoiding the real killers at HW for years when he was more than capable of moving up.
He waited until the exact right time to make his move.
I called it years ago, and I was right.
Jones is not challenge driven, he is legacy driven.
If he’s so good, why doesn’t he just smoke Aspinall and a couple other guys within a year?

Jones didn’t have to move up.
It’s the timing of when he did it that’s shitty.
He could have been at HW years ago and he didn’t make the move, probably because he knew there were HWs still fighting who would beat him.
What he’s doing is cherry-picking and stalling.
It’s risk management and a total legacy driven move.
It might not make him a coward, but it doesn’t make him the GOAT.
As far as I’m concerned Jones has no heavyweight legacy. He’s probably the best LHW ever, and that’s where it ends.

I think the opposite, if he doesnt fight then he ducked Aspinall and Ngannou in the publics eyes (might not be true..) but that hurts his legacy big time.
If he beats Aspinall then its absolutely undeniable that hes the best ever

The UFC is happy to let Jones keep this fight alive because it keeps the UFC in the headlines. It’s why they won’t come out and say coke head Conner will never fight again. Aspinall, like Chandler, is too much of a mark to understand how the industry really works.
