Dirty Boxing Championship passed its first test.

The promotion will now launch its inaugural event, titled “DBX 1: Romero vs. Hylton,” on Sat., March 22, 2025 inside The Hangar at Regatta Harbour in Miami, Florida. The entire card will stream live and free on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Rumble, Kick, and other select streaming services.

The main event will feature one-time UFC middleweight title challenger, Yoel Romero, taking on former Cage Titans heavyweight champion, Ras Hylton. Other featured fighters include Cody Chovancek, Maurice Greene, and Ulysses Diaz, among others, in marquee matchups to be announced soon.

Dirty Boxing Championship, at its core, is a striking promotion. The bouts take place inside an 18-foot ring with fighters wearing five-ounce gloves. Grappling and submissions are both illegal but combatants are allowed to throw elbows, use open palm strikes, and ground-and-pound a downed opponent.

“Step into the underground world of Dirty Boxing Championship (DBX), where the thrill of combat meets the allure of a speakeasy,” the promotion wrote in a recent release. “DBX isn’t your typical fight league. It’s a bold reinvention of the combat sports scene — raw, gritty, and unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.”

Tickets are now on sale and range from $75 – $750.

“At DBX, we bring together fighters in an exclusive, no-holds-barred environment where the action is unpredictable and the stakes are high. With our modified rule set, we push the limits of what’s possible in the ring, blending traditional boxing techniques with new, exciting elements that add intensity and unpredictability to every fight.”

Since grappling and submissions are illegal, then holds are, in fact, barred.

Whatever … just bleed!

“The Soldier of God” will have a six-inch height disadvantage in his next combat sports competition.

After a pilot event in November, Dirty Boxing will have a hard launch March 22 when it promotes DBX 1 at The Hangar at Regatta Harbour in Miami. The event will stream live and free on YouTube and various social media networks.

In the main event, former UFC title challenger Yoel Romero will take on hulking 6 feet 6 inches tall Maine-based heavyweight Ras Hylton in front of a live audience.

Romero, 47, most recently competed at the pilot event in November when he defeated Power Slap competitor Duane Crespo by first-round knockout. The win was his second of 2024, also having defeated Thiago Santos by unanimous decision for PFL in February.

Hylton, 37, is a 10-8 professional MMA fighter who has competed for Bellator and PFL in years past. He hasn’t competed since September 2023, when he was knocked out for the second time in three fights.

Dirty Boxing presents a hybrid rule set under which fighters compete in three three-minute rounds using four-ounce gloves inside a ring. Mainly a striking contest, ground-and-pound is allowed in the striker is standing on both feet.

The DBX 1 lineup currently includes:

  • Yoel Romero vs. Ras Hylton
  • Cody Chovancek vs. TBA
  • Maurice Greene vs. TBA
  • Ulysses Diaz vs. TBA
