Alex Pereira fans get ready: the former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight champion has a big announcement coming very soon.
Pereira has been teasing big fight news for weeks now, hyping a return to the cage after his failed attempt to become the promotion’s first triple champ at UFC White House. That event ended with Pereira TKO’d by Ciryl Gane, who took the interim heavyweight championship. With Tom Aspinall too injured to compete, Gane will now become the undisputed title holder.
Pereira pushed hard for an immediate rematch, arguing that Gane cheated by throwing multiple punches to the back of his head during the final moments of their fight. But that argument wasn’t good enough to earn a second fight. Instead Gane will face Josh Hokit in the main event of Madison Square Garden’s UFC 334.
As for Pereira? We won’t have to wait long to find out what his next move is. In a social media post, “Poatan” wrote “Tomorrow.”
Pereira has been on vacation, sharing videos of his travels as always. But leading up to that message he shared video landing back in the United States and crossing the Whitestone Bridge on his way home to Connecticut. Perhaps to begin seriously training for his next fight?
Pereira has made it clear he intends to stay at heavyweight and accomplish his goal of becoming champion there. Who will he fight next to take that next step? There’s certainly good options, like No. 2 ranked Sergei Pavlovich or No. 4 ranked Alexander Volkov. You could argue that both men had a better case for fighting Ciryl Gane next for the heavyweight belt instead of Hokit. Instead they may become Pereira’s next opponent.
Jon “Jojo” Jones
Say it out loud, it’s catchy
Now i just want potatoes
Jon is still healing from Gabes last fight, he looked like he took the loss mentally himself when he was cageside. Last time I had seen that look my brothers girl cheated on him, heartbreak and disappointment.
The best fight for Pereira is Jones but I think he is done, the next best fight is #6 Hokit who is leapfrogging multiple guys to get a title shot just like Pereira did. Volkov and Pavlovich should have rematched in July or August and the winner got Gane in the winter.
Give Pereira a fight vs Rizvan, that is the fight to make, and have the rematch with Volkov and Sergei.
Is he fighting the Undertaker?
YES!!!
whats the news
