Prime Cain vs Prime Cro Cop in pride

Idont really care for Cro Cop but he was a beast in Pride. Cain likes to push guys against the cage to pummel them and take them down. This would be harder in the ring. I still think Cain wins but it could go the other way. One thing is I think Cain puts a lot of pressure on Cro like Fedor did, Cro doesnt like fighting on his back foot.

I’d still go with Cain but the ring would have made things more interesting and competitive for sure.

Cain is getting brutally head kicked here IMO.

i think cain will be out of range til he shoots or clinches, cro wont get off any power shots
cain by top control decision, at that time

Cain wouldn’t do worth a fuck without a cage, just like Randy Couture couldn’t.

Kongo was all over Cain, Kongo couldn’t beat the the shell of crocop’s shadow without 15 kicks to the balls.

Prime CroCop was able to bludgeon Coleman and Barnett 3 times. The hype train of Cain Valesquez disappears in the Pride ring before it ever leaves the station.

Cain cannot cover distance like that and is nowhere near as fast or explosive as randleman. He’s probably the least comparable wrestler type to Randleman

Cain wasn’t the explosive athlete that Randleman was. And it was that explosiveness that got Kevin the win. But you also know he lost the rematch, I’m sure.

Cain on PRIDE level PEDs is a scary thought.

Coleman and Randleman were much more accomplished wrestlers than Cain and he handled them fine. Post-injury Crocop would probably lose, but I don’t think Cain would have anything for a prime Crocop.

They fought twice. He won the rematch.

He was already on plenty of EPO. Otherwise he would have just been that fat Mexican dude that gassed out in 2 min.

Pride rules greatly favor crocop

You’d favour both on their “home ground”, surely?

Prime Cain, while brief, was having his name put alongside Fedor, so he wouldn’t be an easy fight, even in Pride rules.

Do you still trane? Do you have a BJJ belt?

Quote of the day right here.

Seems like you might have contradicted yourself there a little…

Regardless, Randleman was a beast, he was just a hot/cold fighter.
On a given night he was a dangerous fight for anyone.

Randleman planned that hook off a takedown feint. Cro Cop got caught with it.
Probably Randleman’s most impressive win.

The rematch… not so impressive.

Hot/cold.

Maybe.

Cain was best when using the fence though.
I’m not saying he had to have it to score a takedown. But as a high pace pressure fighter throwing heavy leather off breaks – that’s where Cain was at his best.

I can see this matchup going a couple different ways, and I don’t pretend to be so certain of the result.

Cain did get caught by JDS before he could attempt a takedown, and Cro Cop was an excellent ring general. Cro Cop controlled distance, cut off the ring, and generally engaged on his terms.

An argument for Cain might be the Cro Cop/Fedor fight though. The ability to come with heavy leather and mix in takedowns.
Of course the approach was different.
And I’m guessing Cain would be more takedown-first than Fedor.

In a Pride ring I would lean towards Cro Cop.
But if they fought 5 times I’m pretty sure we would see more than one different outcome.

I was comparing their wrestling because you were mentioning Crocop’s takedown defense. I was saying that in his prime he face better wrestlers than Cain, and his defense was fine.
