Prime Shane Carwin va Aspinall

He knocked out Gabriel Gonzaga in 1 round. Almost finished Lesnar in round 1. Survived a 3 round beatdown/war with a prime JDS. He was a monster

Carwin is buddies with Schaub which made it hard to root for him. But tom definitely wins that match prime vs prime

Tom has more first round finishes in the UFC than Shane had fights in the UFC, and as uninspiring as the current division is, guys like Pav, Blaydes and Volkov are no worse than Mir or Gonzaga, but we call Tom “unproven” and act like hes a prospect.

Yeah Shane did almost beat Brock, I wish he had won the belt that night, but another thing to take into account about that is he also gassed so hard, in the 2nd round no less, that he
was practically unable to put up a fight anymore and gave it away.

And yes, he also survived against JDS, which while impressive in a way…he lost, again. Plus it was only a 3 rounder and he was used as a human punching bag by a guy who had significantly slower hands, footwork and head movement than Aspinall does. Survive was about all he did.

I’m being devils advocate here to a degree because I was always a Carwin fan, but I do think he is an example of a guy being a little overrated purely because he was around during a relatively exciting time for HWs.

Carwin can come in anywhere between 5’11 to 6’5

Tom all day.
That boy good.
Speed kills.
Tom is out here sleeping fools with a 1-2 combo.
Hes not even a power puncher who loads up on his shots.
That speed and fleet of foot is gonna rule the division for a long time.

I’d pick Aspinall, would look like the Pavlovich fight imo.

Jds beat Carwin pretty good, I think Aspinall is faster.

Main criticism of Tom imo is he has a tendency to be dangerously reckless at times, tries to get too slick with the head movement thinking hes prime Anderson, gets his feet in awkward off balance positions etc. He will probably pay for it eventually, especially as his athleticism starts to fade in a few years.
