Who takes it?

bottom line, coleman is a better wrestler, he would be on top
ken was not good on bottom
Leg locks would be Ken’s big advantage.
Coleman would have smashed Shamrock.
And how did that ankle pick end? Guys like you always post this one that ends early to drive the talking point of fixing.

Coleman and it wouldn’t be competitive
Any version of The Hammer fucks any version of Kenny Wayne Slamcock. 30 seconds if headbutts allowed.

save it for future use

Coleman would still be champ today if they never banned headbutts. Get takedown, opponent gets guard, Coleman gets wrist control, Coleman headbutts opponent into a living death (intentional Ken Shamrock reference).
I have it. But the onus should be on those who use the other with no intention to talk about how he still got the take down.
maurice beat coleman with headbutts allowed
The Hammer, but I can see a scenario where Mark takes Ken down, and Ken ties up a leglock.
Coleman was even tapped out by a legwork from Takada!
One of the fights I wish happened the most.
Ken and Coleman were the only 2 guys to run through Dan Seven in that early UFC era.
Yeah Royce subbed Severn, like he did almost everyone back then.
But Ken and Coleman ran through Severn, both beating him in under 3 minutes.
It established a clear hierarchy of tournament finalists/champs like Oleg and Tank losing to Severn, and Ken/Coleman beating Severn so easily.
Assuming this happens in the late 90s, I think Shamrock takes it.
Shamrock was just as strong as Coleman if not stronger, had much better cardio, and the submissions to finish the fight.
Coleman ended his 90s UFC run with 3 straight losses, and 2 of those he gassed out and got beat up, one by head kick KO.
Ken never took losses like that in the 90s.
He got tapped by Royce in UFC 1, and had a decision “loss” to Severn in the Dance In Detroit.
Ken had a couple boring fights where he should/could have done better.
But peak Ken never got his ass handed to him like Coleman did vs Mo and Pete.
Also, there was never a time in the 90s where Mo Smith or Pete Williams would have had much for Ken. He beats them both easily.
I think Ken makes Coleman work for the takedown, and he might even dive for a leg early, which I’m not sure Coleman would defend well.
But if Coleman gets top position I think Ken weathers the storm and finds some space to attack a leg when Coleman gasses out.
Explain to me how Shamrock has an easy win over Mo Smith, and could manhandle Pete Williams any way he wanted – yet somehow wouldn’t be “competitive” against a Coleman who lost to both of those guys.
I legit have always thought his body just wasn’t having what ever his brain was trying to get it to do there lol.
