Sitting on an address waiting to deliver the legal equivalent of a pizza is boring as hell. Anyone have interesting experiences with process servers? It’s def NOT like Pineapple Express.
Can you serve delete papers to Alta? I need my account wiped.
I have lived in my current house for a little over 3 years, and I’ve had the same guy show up about 5 times trying to serve papers to the woman who used to live there and then ask me if I know where she currently lives. I don’t know if he just never remembers or thinks I’m harboring this broad, but I tell him the same thing every time
We had a process server show up at the office trying to serve one of the attorneys. I think his ex wife is suing him for alimony modification. He wasn’t in the office at the time, and no one was willing to accept on his behalf. That dude was pissed, but unfortunately for him he pissed off our Colombian paralegal with his antics. She went so off on him; she cannot be out-shouted. She basically shouted him out the door.
But it did raise a question as to who can accept service. He kept saying “you’re refusing to accept service, I’m going to call the judge” and the paralegals would say they weren’t authorized to accept. I actually know next to nothing about the legalities of service.
No. I don’t know anything about it. The court system is absolutely terrifying and I actively refuse to be a part of any of it.
my dad was a lawyer and occasionally Id have to serve docs. One day I had to drive out to the sticks to serve someone at a house. Half way there I had to shit so badly. I knocked on the door I was in emergency mode. No one was home so I dropped a mad deuce in their front yard and left.
thats about the extent of my server experiences
I served papers one time. I get through the gate to the apartment office. I get in and say, “you’ve been served.” guy says cool thanks. Not mad at me at all.
I go to leave and the fuckin gate wont open. I had to go back to ask how to get out the gate. Dude was dying laughing at me, It was funny. I ended up drinking a beer with him
Oh man, I bet that was really sc-
I get where they’re coming from.
Depends on what it is . If it’s a citation, the actual person has to be served. If they keep ducking, the court can authorize “alternate service,” buts it’s generally the actual party named.
^ only when they’re not trying to bite me on the ass!
One. It wasn’t good.
We had just moved in and apparently the previous resident was a bit of a deadbeat and piece of shit.
Some dude went from banging on the front gate to using his keys to “knock” on the window. Freaked my wife the fuck out.
I got my pistol and decided before whoever this was got froggy, I’d nip it in the bud. I opened the door with my pistol completely out of sight and asked what his major malfunction was. He asked if I was whatever-the-name-was of the previous resident. I said no, he no longer lived here. To which he responded, aggressively, “Yes, you are! I know you are! Open this gate! Show me your ID!”. I told him get fucked, get off my property, I now perceive you as a threat and intend to treat you accordingly, after which I produced my pistol at low-ready.
The dude’s eyes went as wide as saucers, he threw papers through the gate and said, “You’re so-and-so, and you’re served!!” and ran off.
We called the cops later to report it before he could, and his service the next day. He was fired. Which is probably for the best because acting like that he would have eventually ended up dead.
