Rogan Argues B.J. Still Lightweight GOAT

BJ has 3 title defenses AND a welterweight Belt taken from a prime HOF Matt Hughes.

Khabib has 3 title defenses and originally won his belt by beating Al Iaquinta.

Not a soul on that list is hanging with Machida at heavyweight, or with juice Fitch the blanket that f fought at 185, and Hughes eats most of them like a country breakfast, easily.

BJ was 100% robbed in their first fight.

Franke won 2-3, but that first fight was bigtime bullshit.

Edger would throw a flurry, hit nothing but air, and make a bunch of “yap yap” noises with his mouth and people thought he was teeing off.

I rewatched it.

Though I think BJ should’ve gotten the nod as the champion, robbery isn’t the word. It was close.

Edgar had a real knack for making it look like he was being busier than he really was, which judges like. Not just this fight but throughout his career.

BJ was plodding and lackadaisical by comparison, though actually landed a little more.

Is BJ still insane tho

That’s still up for debate. Look at their fights against Dustin Poirier

I used to respect Joe’s opinions a lot. Lately everything he says is so fucking braindead or hyperbolic that I can’t take him seriously anymore. His MMA takes are straight dog shit Facebook comment section quality.

Khabib would mop the floor with BJ.

“OH THAT’S TIGHT!!!”

Shut your dumb ass up

BJ was inconsistent but, def one of the greatest LWs. I don’t know how it’s debatable.

GSP acknowledges him as his toughest opponent in terms of skill and a real “prodigy”, “perfect” fighter in his prime. Everyone who I knew that trained with him described him as a freak in terms of natural balance, reflexes etc.

Judges should be sophisticated enough to realize that bouncing around outside of any effective fighting range, and making 'yap yap" sounds with your mouth with you throw a combo where no punches land isnt winning a fight.

I dont think BJ deserved it based on some sort of champions right, I think he just straight up won that fight.

Khabib never beat a fighter who was a champion at the time they fought. He never gave rematches. He only had 3 defenses. He never moved up a division. He missed weight multiple times. The only reason that he is in the GOAT discussions is that he is undefeated. That’s a big one, don’t get me wrong but, imo, you’re giving that one aspect way too much weight to have him as the GOAT.

All that being said, I think he would beat Penn in a 5 round fight. I take BJ in a 3 rounder though.

If we are talking a decision sure.

Prime BJ might finish Khabib in 1 or 2 rounds. no matter what the scheduled rounds are.

Of course but if I was betting on that fight I would pick Khabib by decision.

Huge BJ Penn fan, but you can’t end your career like he did and be the GOAT anything.

During his prime he was special but it was a small amount of fights. I don’t know how the 155 pound GOAT is, not sure there is one.

Tom Brady could spend his retirement years sucking dick and getting blown out in pop warner and he is still the GOAT QB.

Islam is on the cusp of beating out BJ for lightweight Goat, but khabib didn’t come close.

To be fair it was created by the dumbest person on the planet

The second fight was so dominant that trying to cling to the first (which was close) just shows laughable bias.

Much like the second GSP fight.

Yeah he should have probably gotten close decision wins in both of those first fights, but completely getting his ass kicked in the rematches overshadow any close decisions that he could’ve/should’ve had, so it’s irrelevant.

GSP did not get “beat the fuck down” in the first fight. That’s a myth. Watch it again. GSP clearly won the fight and did not get beaten down.

I encourage anyone to watch this fight again.
