Askren was well known for his double leg take downs making it easier to time the knee when he dips his head and moves towards you.
Ronda was standing fully upright and virtually still on her feet it was such a low percentage strategy from Zingano with obvious consequences if it failed.
It was definitely better odds for it to work against askren. But Masvidal was still banking on him bending over immediately and shooting. Mas committed to throwing that knee well before Asken bent over. If Askren didnât bend over the knee would have still been thrown and missed. Askren would have taken him down, and the fight would have gone completely differently.
Ben never really stood and banged with people when he had a choice.
So it was 100% inevitable that Ben was going to duck and shoot on Masvidal as soon as he had the chance.
Still a calculated gamble though from Jorge this could have been the very first fight where Askren didnât actually try to shoot in on an opponent and wanted to keep the fight standing lol.

I was just saying that due to Askrenâs predictable nature Jorgeâs plan had a higher percentage of success compared to jumping and throwing a knee at Ronda who was virtually still standing upright when Cat did it.

Holly winning was shocking tbh. Specially that Tara used to throw her around the gym and her judo isnt even close to Rondaâs level.
I did think Holm had a chance to eventually beat Ronda in time but that the fight was too early for her before she could develop effective defence on the ground and in the clinch against her Judo.

Remember Miesha Tate was originally supposed to get a shot at Ronda after she beat Jessica eye which made it 4 wins in a row.
Holm only had 2 very unconvincing wins in the UFC at the time so to give it to her instead gave me the impression that they rushed this fight so that Ronda could beat her before she develops much better grappling defence.
I definitely felt Holm wasnât ready for Ronda yet which is why the UFC rushed the fight hoping to get her out of the way.
Was so surprised to see her get up from the first takedown I definitely underestimated her.
