After Rousey being open and public about how badly rattled her brain was at the end of her career, I’m amazed this can get sanctioned anywhere. Also, do a person who has already admitted that she is a bit punch-drunk, taking on a skilled striker like Carano isn’t a great matchup.
This will likely end rather quickly- either Ronda by armbar, or Carano by vicious KO. Either way, it does nothing but put money in their pockets. Neither is a relevant or even close to competitive female MMA fighter against today’s crop of entirely mediocre women fighters.

while i do not disagree with really any of this…
i will say it has been 10 years since rousey has fought and several years since she took any bumps pretending, right?
brains do heal over time if allowed to ion a proper matter…
and the truth is these are two middle aged women who have not fought in forever… i just can not see too terrible much risk and whatever risk there actually is will be well worth whatever the fairly substantial amount they are getting paid for this silliness…

And I don’t think that kind of thing matters to women as much.
Granted female athletes/fighters probably a more competitive breed.
They should do a best of three.
One kickboxing rules, one MMA rules.
If they split – whoever gets the fastest victory picks the rules (MMA or kickboxing) for the rubber match.

It’s a strike that should have been banned as it looked goofy and was usually completely ineffective
I so want for Gina to win. The way she handled Cyborgs grappling worries me a great deal. Plus she been out for a loooong time. Rousey has too but Ginas been gone enough time to blow up, come down, blow up even more then apparently come back down and get in fighting shape. Dont get it twisted, I wouldnt care if she was bigger than this house, Id still be all over it but I just worry about her grappling. This is a classic striker vs grappler match and we know how they go most the time. It would be so satisfying to watch Gina KO Rousey in the first after beating her up. There is a perfect blue print for her with Holly.
