If you put a well trained Jones in versus the Ngannou we saw on Saturday, Jones wins decisively.. did you see Ngannou breathing hard and getting tagged by a relative unknown in Lins? Jones is the goat and he would take Ngannou down and drown him
Folks are forgetting just how good Jon Jones is
Nate quit. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, especially after that beating. Honestly, I’m glad he did because he’s got nothing to prove. But when have we ever seen a cut man call a fight before? I’ve been watching MMA since UFC 7, I can’t recall every seeing that. If anything, they’d tell the doctor to look at the cut, and the doctor would wave it off.
Nearly double UFC’s biggest ever audience.
I get what you are saying and maybe it’s semantics because nate did look done, but I have a hard time believing he wasn’t going to stand up and go out there for the next round of nobody stopped him. He might have flopped around, pulled guard, or whatever, but I don’t think he would literally quit.
The Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano superfight peaked at nearly 17 million global viewers on Netflix, cementing its status as a massive broadcast success despite the main event lasting just 17 seconds.
16.9 million live viewers concurrently watched Ronda Rousey submit Gina Carano. The event pulled an estimated average minute audience (AMA) of 12.4 million Live+1 viewers across its triple-main event. The main card averaged 9.3 million domestic viewers and peaked at 11.6 million viewers, completely shattering the previous U.S. record for the most-watched MMA event in history (8.8 million peak for UFC on FOX 1 in 2011).
The blockbuster generated 1 billion global impressions across Netflix’s official social channels, trending at #1 on X in the United States and Brazil.H
While a major win for combat sports distribution, the metrics tracked behind Netflix’s massive boxing blockbusters. According to reports compiled by Variety, it was outpaced by Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua (33 million average) and the record-holding Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson card (108 million average global viewers).
However, the strong metrics have prompted Most Valuable Promotions to evaluate expanding long-term MMA distribution plans on the streaming platform.
Jones did basically nothing against OSP and Anthony Smith
Plenty of other average performances as well
Stop blowing smoke up his ass
Jones arguably lost to two middleweights. Ngannou did look like he took the fight lightly i doubt he would against Jones. Jones has never faced anyone with the size and KO power as him. Ngannou’s last fight against Stipe his TD defense looked really tight.
I am sure they will be looking for the right tomato can to get her win and then retire like Rousey.
Francis is one of those guys who doesn’t have to have amazing TDD. He can just have a solid sprawl/double unders/whizzer. With his genetics and strong hips, if he sprawls correctly, you’d be carrying all of his weight on your head. Not a situation I’d wanna be in.
If they fought I think Jones would struggle to take him down early but if the fight went long, Francis would tire and his explosiveness would be gone. The takedown would come then. Until then Jon just has to land jabs and teeps and oblique kicks and make Francis miss.
But what about the fights where he dominated the worlds best fighters? Are you forgetting about those? Cormier, sonnen, machida, shogun, Belfort, Gustafson and he recently demolished Gane who turned around and gave Aspinal fits ..
