Something like 70% of his UFC fights were decisions and the way he talks you’d think he was flatlining people left and right. Fuck him, he’s boring, he sucks and he’s an idiot to boot.
Javier should’ve said fuck Dana and told the truth. Cain was dealing with a torn ACL and was struggling to run during warm ups. But with this being the first UFC event on Fox the team was pressured and didn’t feel like they could pull out.
Your intensity is FOR SHIT Grimes!
Based on this short video, yeah. But based on every other interview out there, it’s very easy to dislike the guy.
100% in agreement.
Sean was right when he said Eric is becoming an influencer
Javi was not a well liked coach.
Listen to Koscheck and Fitch talk about him
At this point, Sean probably makes more with his viral rants than his fighting
I don’t think his coach should have gone on a podcast talking like he did (and I don’t fault Sean for calling that out) but I could definitely feel the frustration his coach was feeling during the fight. He told Sean to get after it and do more 50x between rounds but Strickland was content to jab his way to defeat…really didn’t listen to any of his advice, so seems like both may be better off moving on.
Strickland should bring in Joshua Fabia and David Goggins and focus mostly on getting media attention. That matters more than fighting anyway. Just look at Nate Diaz. He sucks but makes shitloads of money because he gets media attention.
That performance by Strickland was so pathetic I can’t even take much issue with what Nicksick said.
I’m not even taking issue with Strickland’s skill set because I think he’s a great fighter in some aspects. He just didn’t do anything even when he was clearly losing.
Can you imagine the rant Teddy Atlas would have if he had been Strickland’s coach?
I don’t get the ‘Stricklands performance was unexplainable’ line of thinking I’m seeing.
DDP is a shit ton better fighter is the answer. He said it himself before the fight, he keeps improving and claimed to be a different fighter than the first time they fought. Even said everyone knew Sean was going to come in and do the same thing he always does.
DDP and his team planned well for it, and Strickland just looked lost. He’s not a high risk creative guy and when the few tools he has were nullified, he had nothing else.
100%
I don’t think what he said qualifies as throwing SS under the bus, he was being honest. With that being said though, Sean needs a change, he fought like shit.
Still, if i was an up and coming potential star, i dont want the coach that blasts me in the media, i want a coach who doesn’t talk, but if he does he blatantly lies his ass off about tainted dinner the night before, and preexisting injuries, and deals with reality behind closed doors.
Strickland did what he does. Nothing different than any of his other fights. He just got figured out and dominated this time.
If the coach has a problem with his style, he shouldn’t have waited until it didn’t work to address it. That comes off as a snake.
Again, I don’t think it was blasting. Sean didn’t fight with any urgency at all and it’s the reason he lost ALL 5 Rounds. But, it just confirms what I thought about the 1st fight and that was DDP was the better combatant that night.
How TF do you take a guy the distance in the first fight and lose a close 5 Round Fight 3-2 to losing 5-0?? Did DDP get THAT much better in between fights??
No….it was the lack of effort. Like the Coach said……
Note that I haven’t watched either video. However, I’ve seen footballers get publicly thrown under the bus by managers, the idea being that the players will work harder in order to avoid it.
I don’t like it, but I suppose it might work - I know nothing about football so I couldn’t say either way.
But fighting is a lonely place, and in my opinion and experience, being able to trust your corner is an absolute requirement.
I don’t think a coach should talk about their fighter like this at all. Yeah, they were just being honest with their opinion. That should be between the coach and the fighter, not the entire world. Just my 2 cents, I’ll see myself out.
