I’m just really comforted to know that i have Sean Strickland’s support. I had no idea!
He essentially pressures and throws straight punches and the occasional kick. It’s not like you have to call out combinations, technical grappling progressions, or intricate gameplans. Literally any OGer could corner him and he’d be fine.

This isn’t about what Sean does. This is about what is coach did. I myself find it unprofessional. And I would leave that gym or at least that coach. Other people can think what they want too.

Nicksick devoted his life and time for a title fight. Sean didnt show up and didnt follow directions. I can see a coaxh being pissed off. Its one thing to lose, its another to not give it your all.
Getting pissed off is totally fine. But making the podcast circuit to shit on your fighter publically. Thats very different.
If your HS wrestling coach went in the school paper to write an article saying you NakedYoga420 sucks and didnt listen to my coaching thats why he lost to Jon Jones. I want to coach champions.
Then you would say fuck this dude and likely quit the team.

You can hate strickland if you want, I find his words and fighting style are polar opposites. Talks loudly and is volume pillow puncher. But what his coach did was fucked IMO.

That scenario happened to me in High school actually.
I quit mid tournament because I was so pissed.
I was a fragile hearted teen though. Sean acts like hes the toughest man to walk the earth. Hes not. He always fights timid and is afraid to walk into fire. Hes not that guy. Maybe thats what Nicksick is saying.
You gotta be able to give it all, and not everyone can do that. I cant. But, if you cant give it all, you aint gonna be champ. If you’re fighting to be champ, your coach has to give all of himself to you because thats his duty. Nicksick wants to know how to coach Sean and what to expect. Is Sean just a loudmouthed ticket seller, or, is he willing to do what it takes to be champion?
A coach has to devote more time and dedication to those who want to be champ

He’s no Rory McDonald thats for sure.
We all know the biggest talkers are generally the biggest quitters. But unlike McGregor, when facing adversity (badly broken nose) Strickland reset his nose and kept fighting. He didnt look for a way out. He didnt suddenly turn into a wrestler.
But I also dont think there was anything he could do to beat DDP.
Retard Pace is unstoppable. Just ask Umar Nurmagomedov and Sean Omalley and Leon Edwards and Adesanya.
But still, its not his coaches place to shit on his fighter publically. Thats fucked up.

Didn’t hear Nicksick complaining about Sean’s style when he beat Adesanya and while he was a champion. In fact, he appeared on social media all the time taking a lot of credit for his fighter’s work. Nicksick just saw his fighter down and out and didn’t waste any time shitting on him.

I totally see what you’re saying. And the coach can be as angry as he wants(i would be). But don’t put that shit online. Don’t slam your fighter in the media. Don’t bad mouth someone you’ve known forever that considers you a friend because he didn’t listen… At most I can give him a little bit of forgiveness for being emotional in the moment but still.

Honestly, Helwani is partially to blame. He asked Eric questions that would lead to these types of answers. Erick is just honest and answered the questions he was asked. Ariel knew what he was doing.
