Anthony Pettis remains one of the greatest lightweights in UFC history after many memorable moments inside the Octagon. After making the full-time move from Mixed Martial Arts to boxing, Pettis has found some success despite being in the latter stages of his fighting career.

After a majority decision win in his professional boxing debut against heavyweight legend Roy Jones Jr. in April 2023, Pettis lost to Nate Diaz’s teammate Chris Avila in July 2024. Since the Avila fight, Pettis has been on the sidelines preparing several understudies for their upcoming bouts.

Pettis is scheduled to face two-time UFC rival Donald Cerrone in his Real American Freestyle debut later this month. After facing Cerrone, Pettis will return to the boxing ring against an intriguing prospect under Jake Paul’s tutelage.

The 39-year-old Pettis will face Neeraj Goyat (21-4-2) in a six-round boxing match on January 23rd. The fight will be contested at super welterweight on a card co-promoted by Paul and Most Valuable Promotions.

Goyat was the first boxer of Indian descent to enter the World Boxing Council (WBC) global rankings in 2016. The former WBC Asian Champion returns to the ring after a four-fight win streak, including back-to-back wins earlier this year.

Pettis will seek his first win in combat sports since defeating two-time MMA rival Benson Henderson in December 2023. Pettis and Henderson clashed in the Karate Combat pit.

Anthony will look to avenge his brother, Sergio, after his loss to India’s Sabari Jaishankar last year.

The city and venue for the India-based event will be announced next month.
