Power Slap just landed a five-year, live event residency with MGM Resorts, beginning with Power Slap 19 on April 17 at The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

MGM Resorts will host four live Power Slap events per year.

“MGM Resorts International has a long history hosting the biggest and best combat sporting events,” said Dana White, Founder of Power Slap. “It’s been home to UFC for decades, and starting in April, it becomes the home of Power Slap. This sport continues to explode and a partnership with a legacy brand like MGM just shows how big Power Slap has become in such a short amount of time.”

Power Slap 20 is scheduled for May 15, followed by Power Slap 21 on July 10 during International Fight Week. The fourth Power Slap event under the new residency will be announced at a later date. Each show is expected to feature fan friendly experiences and hospitality, according to the release.

“Power Slap has quickly become one of the most popular combat sports worldwide,” said Ryan Abboushi, MGM Resorts International’s President of Entertainment. “We look forward to adding Power Slap to our sports programming portfolio and the opportunity to deliver our eventgoers memorable experiences at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan.”

Power Slap 19 will be headlined by the Super Heavyweight Title match between defending champion Dayne “Da Hawaiian Hitman” Viernes (3-2) and undefeated No. 1 ranked Super Heavyweight contender Makini “Big Mak” Manu (5-0). Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, if you’re into that sorta thing.

I have never met a person in real life or one these forums that said they liked power slap. Most martial artists hate the idea or taking full power slaps to the head.

I wish Dana did something else. What I would do is have an average Joe MMA competition, especially a grudge match thing. Image the heat of an ex husband fighting a guy that stole his wife!
