Tai Tuivasa is one loss away from tying Tony Ferguson for the worst losing streak in UFC history and fight fans have noticed.
This weekendâs UFC card in Perth, Australia, was supposed to be Tuivasaâs chance to end a horrid six-fight losing streak and put his name back in the mix for some top 15 matchups. He was fighting in front of a home crowd and UFC matchmakers gifted âBam Bamâ with a winnable fight opposite limited heavyweight Louie Sutherland. The stars were aligning for the Octagon veteran.
Unfortunately for Tuivasa, he wasnât able to stuff any takedowns in this fight. Sutherland had his way in the grappling department for three-straight rounds and didnât allow Tuivasa a chance to land his power punches. It wasnât the most popular gameplan â especially in front of the Australian crowd â but it got the job done for Sutherland. The fight went the distance and Tuivasa ended up losing via unanimous decision.
While Sutherland is better than some other heavyweights still stuck on the UFC roster this was a pretty shocking outing from Tuivasa. Even on the heels of losing six-straight fights inside of the Octagon the 33-year-old couldnât do much of anything. This not only resulted in another loss for Tuivasa âwhich puts him one more defeat away from tying the aforementioned âEl Cucuyâ â but also a Saturday afternoon full of social media backlash and hate.
