The Fishing Thread

Same forest that I’m in, just farther North

Thought those shorelines looked familiar.

yeah I can tell the guys in the boreal forest pretty easily, lol

ME and MT are the places to be. I’m going out to MT to hunt mule deer and antelope this fall

MN is nice, but communism.

We have been having a great time night fishing and crabbing this summer. The wife, kids & with friends too.

The night time pic is from Friday. We left one group tending crab pots from the pier and the other group working the bridge pilings from the boat.

When the bridge lights come on at dusk, they attract fish. We brought home around 30 trout, 25 blue crabs, and ate like kings last night.

It’s 115 heat index here during the day. It’s much nicer out at night.

Just out here floating some beef lung and fighting skeeters. The bright red dot in the middle of the red spotlight belong to gators

Got blown and froze off the lake this morning. Left my rain gear at camp so we ended up drenched on the rip back.

My oldest got his first top water bass on Friday. 4.5 pounder definitely got him hooked on fishing with that

Smallie. I’ll get a pic up when I’m clear enough to edit his mug.

Older kid got his first Solo boat bass, without me in the boat with him, over the weekend

tiny little 1/2 acre pond, i gave him a canoe paddle but the wind controlled him most of the day

i had to pull him out of there bc he wouldnt leave

the little bass were slamming everything…topwater slams when retrieving his lures

FIXING THAT DAMN PROBLEM TONIGHT

No length. Fishing “slowed down” today. My buddy was out with his daughter and put a 44”

Muskie in the boat. Stupid whopper plopper too.

i randomly caught a decent sized Chain Pickerel early spring before the trees bloomed here on a whopper plopper you sent me

Never had a whopper plopper but have loved top raiders over the years for pike and musky. Always exciting hookups.

Going fishing next week to a great spot here in Colombia. I’m stoked. I’ll be posting pics of the whole offroad, rafting, fishing, and waterfalls extravaganza.

Neat. What sort of fish will you be targeting?

Honestly, I can’t figure out what it is, or translated it would be. It’s Norcasia Colombia. Check it out amd tell me what you think the fish are. One translated to tuna, but that cant be since its a river. But I’m not a fishing expert. I just go throw lines.

Cool. Looking online I’m seeing lots of references to peacock bass in that area. Not sure what relationship they might have to large and small mouth, but they look hefty and probably fun to fish. Looking forward to your trip report
