He was carved from steel. A former UFC Heavyweight Champion. A PRIDE warrior. A freak of nature with explosive power and unmatched athleticism. Kevin Randleman terrified opponents — but behind the muscle and the roar was a man constantly fighting battles no one could see.
In this video, we revisit the incredible highs and devastating lows of Randleman’s life. From his championship glory to near-death hospitalizations, chronic injuries, and the silent pain he carried to the very end. His body eventually broke down… but his spirit never did. Kevin Randleman fought until the last bell — and left behind a legacy that deserves to be remembered.
“In a sport that forgets its heroes” is an incredible line that almost makes me sad to reflect upon. People are so quick to tear down MMA greats when they inevitably get older and lose fights they would have won as a younger man.
Randleman IS a legend. RIP big fella.
Dana White tosses aside former fighters like trash.
That’s why people fight not to lose. In PRIDE FC, if you brought action, you had a job. Maybe not a title, but you had the organization and fans’ respect.
Dana is a POS.
IN for later
Randleman was a really great guy.
When I first moved to Las Vegas to chase my MMA dreams, pretty much everybody at the gym either ignored me or was shitty to me.
Kevin was the first person to be encouraging and make me feel like I might belong.
He was a very positive influence, and a great training partner.
