The most brutal boxing match ive ever seen

Moore could have been killed by the incompetence of the referee and the indifference of Moore’s corner. Moore was never the same after this. The referee was never a referee again in a championship fight.

WFA OP Must Be New Here !?!?

That Ray Boom Boom Mancini fight when that Asian guy wound up dying was pretty brutal.

The Pacquiao KO was pretty brutal. I remember being it being shocking when I saw it, and made worse by how long he stayed unresponsive.

Hatton???

Duk Koo Kim. It was terrible. Afterwords Mancini was never the same. Kim’s mother and the referee Richard Green committed suicide. Kim’s fiancee married him in a post mortem marriage.

The championship distance of 15 rounds went to 12 rounds because of this fight and the standing 8 count was introduced.

Thanks for specifics and links. I remember seeing it as a kid. It was terrible.

Though afterwards some people commented on the tragedy but also said it was most exciting of fights.

For the first ten rounds it was back and forth. Mancini was in danger of losing. Mancini took control after the 10th. Had it been a 12 round fight Mancini could have lost, it was that close.

And Mancini admitted he could have been killed in that fight

There’s a movie about this , wasn’t bad.

The Moore Duran fight: everybody was shouting at the referee to stop the fight. You could see former lt. heavy champion Jose Torres in the crowd furiously shouting to stop the fight. You could see his frustration at the referee.

One of the most brutal fights I ever saw was on a card I fought on in Totowa, New Jersey in 1986 between a couple of prelim welterweights named Mike Tricacio & Kevin Vieldhouse, who fought a scheduled 8-rounder. Both were white boys who stood in front of each other & banged away non-stop. Neither were big punchers, but they hit hard enough to wobble one another in every round & bust each other’s faces up something fierce. Tricacio had one eye swollen nearly shut, while Vieldhouse was cut over both eyes.
Finally, in the 7th round, Tricacio pinned an exhausted Vieldhouse on the ropes & hit him with about 15-20 unanswered punches until the ref stepped in & stopped the fight. Everyone was shocked that it wasn’t stopped sooner. But, thankfully, Vieldhouse was OK. Actually, it was Tricacio who collapsed in the locker roon, but he wasn’t injured, he was just dehydrated.
Neither one went on to do anything, in fact, Vieldhouse never fought again. But they put on a hell of a show for the crowd at the arena & those watching at home on the Tuesday Night Fights.

Oh, BTW, I dropped a 6-round majority decision that night. I just couldn’t get going that night because I was cold as hell. The arena was actually a place called Ice World that held hockey games, so I could see my damn breath as I climbed into the ring. It sucked.

And the fight with real cement gloves???;!

And here’s another one sided beating. Willard lost teeth, broken ribs, lacerated face.

Some of the early UFC fights were brutal the ones without weight or time limits.
