Nothing worse than losing a child.
Say what you want about Tyson â the guy has experienced some of the highest highs and the lowest lows.
Absolute roller coaster of a life.
Iâd love to see Mike Tyson and Ken Shamrock sit down and trade stories for a few hours â completely candid, no filter.
Iâd pay good money to see something like that.
I was just thinking that Mike Tyson probably lived the most insane unexpected life ever.
Julio Cesar Chavez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr come to mind.
Julio Sr has a mythic level of tougness, durability and high respect in the boxing world. If memory serves me correct, his family lived in a train car in Mexico. His world was literally fight for your family or everyone starves.
Julio Jr was a two time world champion which is respectable in its own right but he had the misfortune(?) of having Julio Cesar Chavez for a father. He was NEVER going to measure up to that no matter what he did in boxing. He also lost a few fights that he probably shouldnât have had he been as iron-willed as his father. I would also say that he tried to emulate his fatherâs boxing style even though he was taller and his body type wasnât suited to fight the same style as his father.
Good example.
And what are the odds that an all-time great fighterâs son becomes an all-time great himself?
Got to be pretty slim.
