If this was a LW title fight, then it was the perfect gameplan and execution for Charles.
This was for the BMF belt and it was embarrassing by every stretch of the imagination.

What about that fight did you enjoy? No exciting scrambles, no transitions from sub to sub. BJJ is great that fight last night was not. Definitely not a “BMF”.

This was my question going in. Was Charles actually going to just not grapple? Or was this just going to be a normal fight for Charles?
As a big fan of Charles, I wanted to see him win and not fight like an idiot. He didn’t, thus he won.
Granted, Charles could have easily grounded and pounded Max into oblivion, but he’s a sportsman at the end of the day.
Like I said, if you want BMF fights to be ultimate kickboxing, then codify the rules for it so everyone knows what the expectations are.
The Bad Muthafucker moniker was simply used to promote Masvidal and Diaz as bad dudes who were already big time fan favorites. It just so happened to work out that BMF fights happen to have guys that liked to strike and/or were primarily strikers.
People talk about the UFC’s shitty match-making as of late. Signing a grappler to an ultimate kickboxing match without codifying the rules to make it an ultimate kickboxing match is definitely up there if that’s what you wanted to see.
If Charles could speak English and went full Colby/Chael and cut a promo about how he didn’t finish on purpose and he could have at any time, that would’ve made the whole main event worth watching
When he landed some good shots on the feet. Then he closed the distance. Then had some great takedowns. Then moved to a dominant position and attempted subs while striking on the ground.
It was a great dominant performance. Sorry about your ADHD and the need to be doing backflips and roundhouse kicks the whole fight for you to enjoy it.

And the Diaz/Masdival fight was a ploy to lure Conrat back because he wasn’t good enough to win the LW title by the time Khabib, Oliveira, and Islam were reigning.
