Thing is he catches guys when they trade with him and get sloppy, so you could easily say Gaethje falls right into that trap.
The difference is Gaethje was able to take those shots, which was something I didn’t expect at his age and mileage.

I mean Ilia won the grappling exchanges. I just don’t think he figured that his cardio would give out on him like it did in round 3. And to be fair, Justin making his face a mess with straight rights and jabs had a lot to do with that.
It’s very easy to say it was wrong now, but I thought Justin was done. He recovered from that liver shot incredibly well.

Yeah that’s my standard reaction. I thought Ilia would be able to go back to that well whenever he wanted, but after his first straight right in the 3rd round was thrown at Derrick Lewis speed it was apparent he blew his wad on trying to finish.
