Thats crazy, after all the talk about how big this card was gonna be.
The top two fights are decent, but still neither are the two best guys in the division fighting for the title. Topuria obviously is the best but gaethje isn’t the next best. At least at heavyweight, they dont have much of a choice with Tom out.
The rest is just your usual average fight night card fodder. Seriously, with it being a historic once in a lifetime event, these are the best fights they could get? I expect it will change somewhat in the months leading up, but this is a terrible start after all the talk and news about the white house event.

And in a wild turn of events Conor was the more realistic possibility but there was not a shot they would use his return with him slotted in the middle of the main card beneath two title fights.
I entirely believed after the last round of shit with Jones and the Aspinall saga, the retirement, the championship being dropped, the immediate backtrack into “oh wait, I DO have motivation, the WHITE HOUSE!”, they were going to tell Jones to go fuck himself. The only positive is that we would all get to see him fight someone. From the business side even if you assume all goes well, he gets to the event, Pereira moves up to heavyweight, Jones wins his vacated championship, retires and vacates it again, and who fucking knows what else from there.
Should’ve used this tactic 10 years ago if it was going to work.
They’ll put Conor on an event that he’ll carry all by himself like they’ve done in the past. I get it it’s a business decision but muh. Thx egg

It’s not so much about Conor it’s more about the UFC not putting on big fights. They’re too fucking greedy to pay some names. Too greedy to build a decent heavyweight division.

I don’t think anybody takes him seriously as a contender these days, but we all know the leadup to the fight and even the fight itself, no matter who he fights, will be electric and worth watching.
