Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight top contender is competing later this month
Today (Mon., Sept. 30, 2024), Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship (ADXC) announced via their social media that the presumed next challenger for the UFC Bantamweight championship, Umar Nurmagomedov, will grapple former Bellator Bantamweight champion Eduardo âDuduâ Dantas at ADXC 6 on Oct. 25 inside Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu match will be held at Featherweight.
Former UFC Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling competed at ADXC earlier this year.
Nurmagomedov is staying active while waiting for UFCâs call that heâs next for Merab Dvalishvili. The undefeated Russian is coming off a five-round demolishing of Cory Sandhagen to earn him a shot at the UFC Bantamweight title - even though Dvalishvili doesnât think heâs earned it.
Nurmagomedov sits pretty with an 18-0 record and is 6-0 in UFC.
Dantas, 35, was robbed of a UFC contract in 2022 as UFC CEO Dana White wasnât impressed with his violent second-round knockout of Jose Alday during his Lookinâ For a Fight show. The Brazilian lost his next fight.
Dantas is a two-time Bellator champion and went 11-4 in the promotion.
DUDU!
Noice.
If I had a son with a black woman Id call him Dudu too
He needs to be paired up with a fighter in top 10 BW rankings.
Fuck this grappling match
That was fast.
Just a couple of days after announcing the ADXC main event between former UFC flyweight contender Muhammad Mokaev and up-and-coming bantamweight sensation Raul Rosas Jr., the promotion was forced to scrap the Oct. 25 bout due to âunforeseen circumstances.â
Mokaev claims UFC gave âEl Niño Problemaâ the hook â but allowed other UFC fighters to remain on the card.
âI have a lot of respect towards Raul Rosas Jr.,â Mokaev wrote on Twitter. âUnfortunately, UFC didnât let him to compete. I wish you all the best, bro!â
Fans on social media suggested UFC is still punishing Mokaev for this.
Todayâs announcement marks the second time ADXC was forced to cancel its grappling main event, having previously scratched the headlining showdown between UFC bantamweight sensation Umar Nurmagomedov and former Bellator MMA champion Eduardo Dantas.
âThe show must go on,â ADXC wrote, before teasing a new main event in the coming days.
