Undefeated boxing heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano with his mother

The legendary undefeated heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano (49-0) shared an incredibly close bond with his mother, Pasqualina Marciano.

While she maintained absolute faith in her son’s skill, she avoided watching his live bouts out of profound empathy. She couldn’t bear to watch the physical toll her son inflicted on other fighters, noting that those men had mothers at home worrying about them just as she worried about Rocky.

She said that although she knew he would win, she could never watch his fights as “his opponent, they have a mother too.”

Her aversion to the violence of the sport deeply influenced Marciano’s career decisions. When Rocky officially announced his retirement from professional boxing on 27 April 1956 at the age of 32, he explicitly noted that he was stepping away to fulfil a promise to his mother and his wife, Barbara.

He wanted to exit the ring while he was still completely healthy, ensuring his family would no longer have to endure the stress of his fights.

Rocky retired with an unblemished professional record of 49 wins, 0 losses, and 0 draws. Out of his 49 victories, 43 were won by knockout, giving him an astonishing 87.76% KO percentage.

He successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship title six times before retiring. To this day, he remains the only heavyweight champion in boxing history to retire permanently undefeated.

Rocky’s mom needs to get a job

“Fighting right handed only, Rocky hammered his opponent, George McGinnis. He knocked McGinnis down twice in the third round and took the AAU Heavyweight Championship. But, any hopes of going on to the Olympics were shattered when Rocky’s hand was examined by a doctor after the fight. Not only was the knuckle on his thumb out of place, but the thumb itself was broken. By the time it healed, the Olympic team was already chosen and Marciano missed a chance to become the first Gold Medalist to become heavyweight champion.”

George McGInnis is my uncle. They were good friends up until Rocky died. They would travel together , change their names in order to fight within two weeks of their last fight so they could make money and not face suspension. They fought each other when they had no opponent. I was told they fought each other 3 times under different names.

My uncle’s last name is actually McInnis.

Rocky and the linebacker is a story as old as time.

Rocky had a younger brother Sonny who died last year at 91. Sonny was also a boxer and Sonny said he boxed against Rocky as an amateur when they needed an opponent on more than one occasion.

She is NOT a milf!

Mamma Mia, what you gonna do?

I’ll bet she had better forearm strength from lifting giant pots of pasta than 95% of modern men.
