"Undisputed" Boxing Game

I play a match last night after doing some busy work like clean install of gpu drives and cpu tuning and the game run noticeably better and was pretty fun.

How do you find the gameplay? I think it will be refined a bit for the console launch but what’s your opinion of it as it stands?

It is more of a arcade button smasher than a real sim of boxing.

The stamina seems to let you throw way too many punches per round power or otherwise.

The controls are similar to Fight Night with button or stick punching.

There is a decent selection of boxers in game.

There are a couple of modes I have not touched including online play.

I bought the game awhile for thirty dollars I am not unhappy with the purchase nor was I at the time.

I have not really read much about the game development or developer but they do updates on steam game page.

This is the only boxing game with real boxers I think around besides some boxing VR games so hopefully it becomes a champion

I think that they want it to be quite realistic, so hopefully they are able to move the needle in that direction with updates. A bit of an arcade quality isn’t bad, for me personally, but too much is.

That’s good news to me. I loved the controls in Fight Night Round 3 and 4. I used the sticks for punching - “Total Punch Control” is what they called it, iirc.

Ive been playing for a long a long time…its fight night but slow and clunky like a sim most the time…much much needs to be or at least released to the fucking players!!

The knockdown animations are terrible and 2 out of 3 you getting this terrible…you blast his face…and he’ll fall super closely with his arm back to catch himself sort of way

Dang! That’s insane. Were all your matches create-a-boxer vs create-a-boxer? Created boxers had an advante against the “real” fighters. Either way, that’s an insane record and you must have gone against many other created boxers even if it was a mix of created fighters and real fighters.

Indeed!

lol, no they were career matches. For whatever reason I had that system figured out quick.

Oh, they were offline against the AI?

Did you like it? Have you played the Fight Night series? How does it compare?

718 hours is quite a bit.

I have just as much if not more hours in each and every fight night.

Ive only played online pvp, mostly ranked. Never once have I fought the AI or tried the career mode.

I love it. Mechanically, its the best boxing game ever. BUT, its not without some issues.

The first and most prominent being its only out on PC right now and you simply cannot stop cheating on PC. The cheats are too easily accessible and mostly free. This will be hugely mitigated when it comes out on consoles which I will absolutely be getting.

Balance is an issue, as it is in all fighting games but it will get better and has improved since the original EA launch.

Offensively, foot work / head movement / all strikes / countering. Phenomenal. And it will only get better with more balance. Not to mention the full launch coming up in October brings a lot of new features overall (theres videos out). Switching stances does cause balance issues (you are usually way faster switched to southpaw as an example) but that will also improve over time.

Defensively is mostly okay but does have a huge issue at the moment, but again a promised fix coming with full launch. Theres a lot of unblockable strikes and theres not enough of a stamina punishment for aggressive offense. You can slip and dodge and weave and its all pretty fluid and it works. Draw counters, etc.

Theres no clinching and its not coming. The devs have opted to put a distance making push instead as clinching was causing some issues balance wise and pace wise so they removed it.

Theres some other problems with back step strikes being longer than any other strikes, but those are also fixed in the videos of the full launch.

ya, I didn’t have online with an Xbox 360 at the time.

That’s a lot of good information. Without having played it to experience the reasons why they removed clinching, I wish the game still had it. FNR 3 and 4 both had it and they are the gold standard for me. Boxing has it.

Frazier is my favorite. Can you make him bob n weave properly? How much of an uphill battle is it when you fight Ali with Frazier?

Welp, I can tell you from the perspective of having fought Frazier. I am kind of a mark ass bitch so I only pick a few specific fighters lol.

Ali (HW), RJJ (LHW), Calzaghe (MW), and Lomachenko (Munchkin). Thats all.

Frazier can fuckin move like frazier and he can put you on your goddamn ass like frazier. They went for a massive damage approach to realism and you take one or two leaping right hooks, or one as a counter, and youre on your ass.

Leaping left hooks actually. The animation is pretty fast and looks very good.

I’ll be doing that too. I’ll either use Frazier and Julio Cesar Chavez, or Frazier at HW, Marciano at LHW, and JCC at whatever lighter weights they’ve got him at.

Nice. Frazier is my favorite fighter irl and I’d say I used him for 95+% of my fights in FNR4. I need him to be viable in this game, to have him be in the game how he was irl, and for the bob n weave to be effective and for it to look like how Joe did it.

I’m also excited about JCC and I hope that they made him well in the game and that he works for me well when I use him.

That’s a great record. Do you remember what difficulty setting you had it on?
