Verhoven is a great fighter but what exactly qualifies him for a shot at the title? Does he even have real boxing experience? I’m a fan of fun fights but I also think Usyk is nearing retirement. Let’s see some meaningful fights before he’s gone.
There are no meaningful fights, he’s dominated everyone
I disagree. Wardley is powerful, young and undefeated and is coming off of a big stoppage of Joseph Parker. How can a guy who has no boxing experience jump all of the other legitimate contenders for a shot at the world championship?
At least let Rico have back fists.
I would kill to see that with kicks. I think Usyk could handle them. For how long, not sure but I’m confident Usyk would win but he’s not coming out of that fight without serious damage.
Straight boxing? Not fair at all…
Agree.. Rico needs to earn how way to a title shot .. he needs to prove his worth in the boxing ring
Yeah a Rico/Usyk match is only interesting with k-1 rules .. same as the supposed Mayweather/Zambidis fight.. a pure boxing match is one sided and largely pointless
This was never real imo. Floyd floats a lot of things to test interest. I’m still not convinced the Mike Tyson fight will even happen. My best guess is that he’ll fight Manny but everything else is a big question mark. Floyd does love to spend money though so who really knows. I haven’t heard anything about Mike even training. It makes me think this is just a publicity stunt.
So now Tyson is fighting Mayweather? I cant keep up with such retardedness
Supposedly in April. But Netflix confirmed Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 in September. I personally don’t believe Tyson is likely to fight Floyd and sadly would not do well if he did.
I just don’t even understand the appeal of that match at this point…? I’m a fan of both fighters but to put them in a boxing ring in 2026 is just odd ..
Agreed. This is about as close to a sanctioned beating as any commission is going to consider at the top level of the sport - even now.
This is way worse than Floyd vs Conor.
And a pure kickboxing fight would be one sided for Rico. There’s only one way to settle this…
Power slap show down!
I agree. Apart from the obvious skill disparity, Usyk also doesn’t have to be shy about using his power.
That being said, I haven’t actually watched Verhoeven fight for a while, so maybe I’m doing him a disservice. I doubt it, though - people don’t often get significantly better later on in their career.
