Say what you want about shammy but he had some of the nastiest leg locks in his prime. Even when he was washed he still caught or hurt a few good fighters. His entries were pretty good too. He could hit them from a closed guard.
He was the most versatile submission threat pre-2000 NHB/MMA.
He was strong as fuck and was a mean guy too, sort of like a phalhares but not as retarded
versatile power threat imo
Royce booted his foot like there was no tomorrow when Ken dropped back
here’s one for you.
was it the TUF series where he brought in Erik Paulson as a assistant coach? I remember he was under pressure coaching those guys due to his technical limitations.
he ended up resorting to describing himself as a brawler/leglock guy. then said he’d gone over leg locks with erik and ‘started to remember details he already knew’ - pretty much seemed an admission that erik understood leglocks on an entirely different level.
tl,dr: he knows how to crank a kneebar but might struggle to explain its finer details.
Erik might have better technique but Ken Also had power. Ken would have broken that black guys leg that beat Paulson
‘yes I agree, ken’s a neanderthal’?
Ken was effective in his prime because he had enough technique to know how to properly apply a leglock and also be pretty versatile from his positions, and then would try and rip your limb out with his gorilla steroid strength.
A ruthless man for a pretty ruthless era of NHB.
I saw him 360 that guys foot in the early day. I have never heard a man scream so much in mma
He had some of the most convincing fake fights for the time
List them.
I don’t have all day. Can I list the ones that were actually real instead
Was Ken Shamrock the king of leg locks in his prime?
Yes.
And I’ll do you one better.
He’s probably the main reason defending leg submissions was a part of the learning curve relatively early on.
Sure.
Then I’ll tell you how many you left out.
That was PWFG.
Never intended to be real and isn’t on their records.
you must be the stupidest sonvabitch alive,
