Not really. If you really want to understand how bjj developed, I highly recommend Robert Drysdale’s books. He does a great job of documenting the development of how ground work came to be more prevalent. It’s an oversimplification to say it’s just judo with more groundwork. BJJ has definitely surpassed judo substantially at this point with the breadth and complexity of the techniques and overarching strategy.

unless you are at a real shit school with a very insecure instructor, good bjj programs incorporate wrestling and the modern leglock/bodylock game as well
