If by bad break you mean ran into a real, multi disciplined trained fighter in a fighting tournament, then Yeah bad break.
At least Bussey taught his guys the front choke. That’s an easy way to nullify Karate guys or sloppy street fighters.
I mean the way RBWI treated him afterwards.
That was a pretty sweet win, especially in those days. Too bad most people never saw it.
Yeah, youre right.
Found a thread about it way back in 2006!
RBWI was more of a cult than even Rorion’s Gracie academy or Gracie barra. And that’s saying something
He has one of those DIY Weebly sites
Steve Jennum was another of Bussey’s students and I had an old ninja magazine, where Bussey describes a road rage incident he was involved in.
RBWI did do legitimate fight training and were way ahead of their time in the TMA side of martial arts. The bullshido aspect of his organization was trying to sell people that their training was all you ever needed.
And to be fair, Scott Morris WAS fighting a bigger, stronger, more athletic professional kickboxer.
Wasn’t Bussey a Mormon and he tried to merge the mysticism of his ninja/martial arts training and combine it with religion?
I don’t remember being aware that Jennum was another student of Bussey back then. I was a kid at the time and did Bujinkan Ninjutsu, and I freaked out when a “ninja” won that one tournament, lol. Looking back, I’m not sure if he would have won if he hadn’t come in as an alternate in the finals. Or…is that just part of being a ninja?
I’m Scott Morris!
I went on to teach high level Boxersize programs!
