I remember he represented Robert Bussey’s Warrior International, a Koga Ninjutsu school. He fought in UFC 2, where he defeated his first opponent: a black belt in Taekwondo. However, he got KO’d by a kickboxer, Pat Smith.
After that, he disappeared from the face of the earth, and no one has heard from RBWI ever again.
Robert Bussey used to be all over those martial arts magazines back in the day, from what I remember, even after UFC 2.
I remember hearing that Big John had to stop that fight himself, even though he wasn’t supposed to, because Bussey refused to throw in the towel for Morris.
Yup. He was always portraying himself as some sort of dangerous badass. I think he sold VHS tapes (back in the day) in various martial arts magazines. I was excited to see what his student (Morris) could do in the cage.
To be fair, Morris did beat a TKD black belt before he was KO’d in his 2nd match.
He was petty af. Probably wanted to punish Morris for making RBWI look bad. But it looked like his organization is defunct.
I hated watching that. Morris took a savage beating at the hands of someone who competed in boxing, K-1, and Sabaki [in other words a REAL fighter] all because he made a stupid mistake.
That’s how it goes in the cage. You will get mauled if you made one wrong move.
Busey supposedly looked BJM straight in the eye and launched the towel into the audience instead of helping his fighter that was getting hellbowed into the shadow realm.
BJM then spoke to the bosses at the UFC at the time that they give him the authority to stop a fight or he will not ref UFC3.
IIRC, he was experiencing mental issues for months after the fight, having vision problems. And of course falling out with Bussey for ruining the brand.
Busseys ninjas were by far the most legitimate ninjas in terms of fighting ability. Morris, jenum and horn, also horns stepbrother who fought in ufc 9. They were the most successful tma in the early ufc
