Unless it’s some prank I don’t get how the gun just fires by itself.
Dude! You ever seen the show COPS? Lots of guns fire themselves in urban settings.
i’ve seen this and was also confused.
This is going to annoy me. Maybe the firing pin isn’t heavy enough? That sometimes explains an extra round going off from one pull. However, that’s when you’re actually pulling the trigger. This guy was barely touching the gun and the part he was touching was the stock. We can probably rule out the trigger and the ammo. However everything else is pretty mechanical and requires touch.
It has to be a prank.
Watch the full vid. He puts a fuckton of rounds through it like a torture test before that part of the vid. I think it was suggested that it was stupidly hot and the rounds were cooking off. Every time it fires it re-chambers a cold round into a fuckin furnace because he left a mag on with rounds in it when he put it down.
This.
I thought maybe extra rounds were being cooked off but how the fuck does it recycle itself? Isn’t that a mechanical function needing operation? The other issue is the temp. How does it stay hot enough to cook off the next round? Let’s say it takes 200F to cook a round. It cooks and fires. The next round chambered is going experience less heat from exchange and use than the last. The temp is only going to be that high for a brief second as it starts to cool. The cooking off of the first round without a trigger pull, yeah ok. Pretty similar in temp to the last round fired. That explanation falls short for the last round. It couldn’t have been hot enough to cook off a 3rd round and maybe even a second round.
It’s a gas operated semi, so if a round cooks off the gas cycles the gun and loads another round with no assist. And your right it needs a lot heat to to cook a round off and normally that’s not a thing but his “how much ammo can I shoot before I bust it” effort has it stupidly hot. If you watch any other torture test efforts dudes shoot 1000+ rounds full auto until the barrel or actions fail and just prior to that they are glowing. Normally not a thing but when you use a regular barrel and action like a faux machine gun (which have heat dissipation and heavy barrels etc) shit gets hot and stays hot.
Reminds me of a Vietnam vet who decided to pick up a machine gun off the tripod and use it handheld. He wrapped his arm prior so it wouldn’t burn his arm. He was putting massive rounds down range and his gun was glowing as well.
This.
Leaving a full magazine in was full-retard level thinking as well…
I would guess the sear surface in the trigger is improperly cut, or the metal used wasn’t hard enough to hold its shape.
It’s either smoking ass hot, or he polished the sear and it’s slipping. It’d be hard to get one to slowly fire like that. Usually they just run away full auto if you over polish, so I’m guessing he’s cooking rounds off.
It is better than -pringfield armory.
At least that rifle functioned well enough for long enough to induce cook offs.
beat me to it…most likely cook offs
Probably a FCG/sear issue.
