Izzy was great, Anderson was legendary.

I was also there for his front kick, so I’m a bit biased…

Silva did things that seemed ridiculous at the time, like knocking out the world champion at a heavier weight with a jab. Adesanya was ‘just’ really, really good.

The Vitor win at MW was also huge. Vitor was on a good tear before they fought and then went on the TRT run after that.

Anderson for sure. He won his fights when he went up weight classes.

Izzy did have a great run too. He’s the #2 MW of all time.

The biggest difference to me was that Silva wasn’t weak on the ground. He preferred stand-up, but wasn’t useless when things hit the ground. If a cracked wrestler like Sonnen had existed in Izzy’s era, they probably would have defeated him.

Silva was a consensus p4p #1 for most of his career. He didn’t lose title fights until the end of his career.

Adesanya was only p4p for a short gap.

I think Anderson gets the nod here.

While I think Alex is the best win for either guy, I think it’s clear Silva has the better career choice overall.

Longer championship reign, longer win streak, and more finishes.

Probably a top 3 debut fight. Only other fight that I can think of off the top of my head is Overeem fighting Brock for his UFC debut.

Izzy had a great career during Appetite for Destruction and the Use Your Illusion albums. However his solo career with the Juju hounds was horrible. Guns n Roses also suffered from his absence as well.

Izzy is the far more intelligent of the two. So I imagine his bank account is larger than Silva. Also his resume is better. Anderson couldn’t beat half the guys Izzy did.

Anderson is one of the goats. Izzy’s just not quite at the level of GSP, Silva, Jones or Fedor.
