Who's the best POOL player here?

Thread title is a bit of a troll to draw eyes.

This thread is for all pool enthusiasts, discussion, and people trying to get better at pool. Feel free to talk about anything pool related.

Tips/Tricks/Advice welcomed!

8 ball is my favorite game though I do really enjoy watching the pros play 9 ball. However on a weekend 9 ball is pretty boring in comparison to 8 ball in a competitive scene (in my opinion).

I personally am a bit obsessed with pool. Live in a very competitive pool town. I don’t play in a league but I probably waver between a 5 and a 6 APA ranking. Will have the occasional 7’ish shot/rack and can take most anyone on as long as I’m shooting well.

Anyhow, here are my cues to get the ball rolling:

Snookerbank was very good

I grew up with a table and used to play in tournaments in my town in the early 00s and did well. I don’t play much any more, I gotta change that.

Get back into it! It’s very mentally stimulating and helps you focus like almost no other thing except for, maybe, chess (I don’t play, just watch so I assume it’s similar). One of the reasons I love pool is because when I am shooting well (specifically) I am not thinking about anything. No work, no ailes in life, nothing except shooting. It’s a magical game.

Cheers, mister Hairy Ass And Back. What was your name on that other toxic forum? I don’t recall having a hairy ass and back in my memory bank.

I played league for years when I owned a bar. A league that the winning team gets a free trip to Vegas for some rec league championship. I was a 9 handicap with the best year a 9.4.

What type of league? BCA? I’ve never heard of a decimal rating but again, I don’t play league. A 9 in BCA is semi-pro though so that would be quite legit.

I can’t remember tbh. We had a pool table in the family room when I was like 5 so I started youg. At a time I could shape balls but the key is to look 2,3,4, balls ahead and leave yourself the next few shots. Hard on a snooker table and even a 9 ball table but a bar table… pretty easy to run it all as long as the break was decent.

It’s funny, and not discounting anyone, but towns vary on skill levels. Like a 7 in APA in my town is an absolute killer. 6’s are incredible and they’ll still get smoked more often than not by a 7 (APA). Though I do live right outside of Manhattan in a pool hotbed. Has to be one of the most pool centric towns in America. Guaranteed. In my opinion.

I agree.

But I’ve run 10ft 9 ball tables too.

I play 8 ball on bar box 7 foot tables. 9 foot is no joke but also a totally different style in it’s own way. They tend to play like ice. Takes an entirely different speed.

If I ever won the lottery I’d open a premiere pool bar with all glass facing the street with a sick table and only the best players competing for… something. Pride, money, whateva. I just love the game.

Well, in my town, I could break and run the table, and so could my opponent, it only took 1 fuck up to lose. 2… iffy, three missed shot s and you were 100% done. Now playing mixed, guys and chicks, sure, but not men vs men.

Yea about the same here. You miss once you’re probably done against one of the premier guys. Which is a catch 22 because knowing you can’t really miss can make you miss, lol. Part of the game. Way more of a mental game than most realize.

I’d put a 9 ball table in … 10 ft, not 12ft snooker… too hard for everyone to play… fuck, at almost 50 I can’t see the end of a 12ft table…lol.

Ive rarely played on a 7ft table. My table growing up was 4.5x9.

Most bar tabled out here are 4x8s.

Im gonna have to put on Color of Money dammit! Lol i used to have a Vince shirt lol i loved wearing it
